PM Scam Alert (UPDATED- EVERYONE PLEASE READ)

If you received a pm from a new member claiming to have the goods you want, or knows of somebody who does do not reply. It is most likely a scammer. Here are typical examples of what they will say:

Quote:

If you get a reply on a WTB thread with a lead from a member whose only posts are leads on WTB threads, be very suspicious. That's a scammer MO.

Just an update guys, but there are numerous people attempting this very type of scam via PM's on gun, car, and other hobby forums everywhere. These scumbags are likely from overseas and they all use the same trick like what you see above. They claim to know somebody who has exactly what you're looking for, and once you're hooked they either want your credit card info or they try to get you to pay using Bitcoin.

Caveat emptor!

You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Just bringing this back to your attention guys

We have had a whole flurry of scammers hit this forum in the past few weeks using the same tactic. Most of these scammers appear to be from India or Nigeria.

DO NOT reply to any post or PM where the poster is a new member. Deal ONLY with established members who have already reached the minimum 45 post count.
