Taurus PT 1911 ambi swap to single side?

Love my PT, but hate the huge ambi levers. I often find my weapon with safety off in holster, the big tabs just seem to find things to get hung on and click "off"...yikes!

I don't have any other small single sided safetys to compare it to...can I swap out my ambi for a colt/ clone single sider and have it work?

See several avail on ebay with the small/ short profile I need.

Have even thought of just cutting/ grinding off the offending lever on right and cutting the left side way back...sounds barbaric, I know, but safety first.
thanks

Go to midway usa and look up parts for 1911's. They have reviews for the parts. In the thumb safeties- there were buyers that were able to just drop the safety in and no fitting was needed..

Should be no problem to install the single side that meets your requirements - just understand the lug will need to be fitted to the sear. You can do it your self or have a smith do it.

Can not just take off the right side - the pin through the grip safety is in two parts. So you have to go with a single sided safety
