18 people shot near El Paso Walmart, reports say

Brady-ite vultures descending in 3... 2... 1...

Still an active scene, judging by FOX News coverage.

I would've thought a Texas Wal-Mart a poor choice for an active shooter. I'd expect half a dozen CCWs there.

The local TV stations here arn't getting information as quickly as Fox News. All of the Fed 3-letter agencies are on the scene.

One report says the incident is "gang related", whatever that means.

Stranger than strange?

So sad, so senseless, so tragic, prayers for all. Yes they have the perpetrator, but how do you find rational/motive in insanity? Unfortunately it just reenforces the need to be prepared. The initial reaction is always the same, this can not be real and happening to me.

I have a bad feeling that the coming year will be filled with public shootings. Really hope I'm sadly mistaken

The rate this senseless killing are increasing we need a separate section for this. What’s wrong with people can’t they handle the pressures of life, I still pin this on the violent video games they get reality mixed up.

It’s turning into a war zone out there, shopping malls, churches, seems like Walmart’s are gaining in popularity. Armed greeters soon? That’s sad.

Even my doctors office was threatened by a sicko patient. I need to ask my doctors if there pro gun or not.

I actually thought living in El Paso wasn't half bad. Of course this was in the very early Eighties though.

FOX talking head (male) said it was an AK-57 (maybe he was there to pick up some steaks? ). Don't they give out man cards anymore.

Tragic...Prayer's to all the families and may God embrace those who have fallen...

It is going to keep happening likely and the gun community is going to keep getting blamed when the blame should go to the Nut-Job's. And social-media which has let all these Nutz loose to get attention. There is something evil going on with a medium which induces so many nutz like this. Also, look at violent video games. I haven't form a full opinion on the latter, but there have been some expert opinion's that these video games are so "real" it desensitize young mind's (that is the theory anyway). If we don't find the root cause the Gun community and NRA will continue to get the blame.

I thought that was odd to but then figured he was planning on getting caught and wanted to hear "bubba" behind him while he was on death row

For a lot of these cowards, it's a way to get attention. The news coverage is creating the next one right now. Stop saying their name and showing their picture!!!!

Or better yet, turn them over to the families of the victims and survivors.

I think public hangings need to make a come back.

I agree with that. Reminds me of that song "Dirty Laundry".

And it needs to be done quickly, not after 20 years and millions of dollars in tax payers money spent on appeals.
Yesterday the jury returned a life sentence to a former FSU student who shot and killed her father and then waited for her mother to return from a business trip then chased her down and shot and killed her. She should be in Starke Fl waiting for them to power up old sparky! The problem is we try to find something to blame. Quickly execute murders and send a clear message to anyone thinking it would bee a cool way to get attention.

IMHO, Social media should be made illegal under 21.
Alcohol and cigarettes are 21, ( not to mention firearms in some states)
So should all the moronic social media.

Tragic,

Updated by Gov Abbott a moment ago, now 20 dead.
