Jeff Cooper’s eulogy May 10, 2007

I have read enough posts in the past to know that there are various opinions of Col. Jeff Cooper but I read a lot of his writing growing up and have always thought highly of the man. I ran across this while looking for something else and thought it was worth sharing even though it is old. If you have never read it or heard it you may find it interesting.

Thank you for posting. I read Col. Cooper in Guns and Ammo, but now I think I'll start reading more of his writings.

I'd read Fr. Frog's eulogy before, but what I DIDN'T realize was, that he'd served aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania during WWII.

Although he got there REALLY late, I wonder if he ever met a certain new Ensign assigned there, at the very end of the war...

For those interested in his writings, if you don't have it already, get a copy of "Fireworks: A Gunsite Anthology". Lots of short stories, pretty quick read. Includes a very interesting write-up on Hans Rudel.

“How many of you in the audience today are carrying 1911s?”

I’ve never heard that said in a eulogy before but I love it.

The eulogy mentions The Barn, a story from Another Country. Someone refresh my memory please, what is that about?
