It's Pretty. Oh-So-Pretty.

I had to sacrifice a Springfield XDm for it, but I'm sure you'll agree it was for a worthy cause. Behold, the Remington R1 Enhanced w/Threaded Barrel.

This pistol is something I've been wanting for a long time, having handled several like it at various gun stores. Each time I've walked away with the same impression: A quality 1911 with a beautiful trigger and a slide riding on butter. Fortunately for me, Black Friday rolled around and so did there $100 rebate. Take my money, as the meme goes.

My example is no less gorgeous. I took an instant liking to the two dot suppressor sight system, though it caused some issues in manually cycling ammunition while checking basic functionality. I normally pull from the back and the raised sights forced me to grip at an odd angle, subtly riding the slide forward and jamming the round. Pulling from the front serrations seems to have fixed this. The grips themselves will take some getting used to as well. To say they are aggressive is an understatement. Working them is akin to grasping at a prickly pear cactus, more accurately speaking. Regardless, they're damn handsome in and of themselves.

Assuming things turn out okay at the range, I expect this to be a potent carry piece. At some point I'll either drop the $200 for the tax stamp or the hearing protection act will save me the trouble and a suppressor will be in my future.

I'll get back to you all with a range report later.

Looks great - I hope you find the trade off to have been worth it. I also have the XDm in both .45 and 9mm and they both shoot nicely though I mostly go with 1911's and an occasional revolver. I don't yet have a Remington 1911 but I look forward to your range report to help me along with a future purchase.

That's really good looking. What year model is that? I like the looks of the roll marks again. When they first moved to Huntsville the roll marks weren't very aesthetic to say the least. I'm hoping they apply real roll marks into them all in the future.

Having purchased a Remington R1 Enhanced myself a few years ago, I can feel your excitement all over again. At the time, the SR1911 was getting all of the love, but there was something about the R1 Enhanced that kept drawing me back to it.

Here I am years later still just as happy with mine as I was when I got it. It's a purchase I can say I never regretted, not even for one second. I've had absolutely zero issues with mine and I hope your experience is the same as mine.
