Finally Ordered My CQB Today (specs inside)

Well after a few months of contemplating I finally decided to order my first brand new Wilson Combat today. I had a pre-owned CQB in the past and it was a joy to shoot but it wasn’t specced even remotely close to what I really wanted. So today I ordered this directly from Wilson:

5” CQB/45CP with full black AT finish
Medium pad solid trigger
Gold bead front sight
Omit front serrations
Omit “CQB” on slide leave other markings
Flush cut/reverse crown barrel
Dehorn/heavy bevels

I wanted this to be a gun that I can shoot the heck out of and carry every day. A “working gun” if you will. Very excited, now the wait begins.

Sounds good to me. I have one close to yours, the gold bead sounds nice though. Hope to see a few incoming pics when your waits over. Wilsons are one fine piece..

I presume you meant in the OP that it (the one you bought used) "wasn't" spec'ed remotely close to what you wanted. BTW, nice to see you post in here again, as it has been awhile. Congrats on the new gun order, very nice and clean specs, and I think it will serve you for a very long time; it looks like a serious carry gun and should be a perfect fit for that. I still carry a TSG Pro .45 as my EDC, that I got in 2015. It is a great carry gun, and the cost of the Supergrade has never entered my mind as far as SHTF losing it to an evidence locker if it is needed for that role - my life, and the life of my loved ones is of far greater value. Congrats on your order of the new Wilson to your own specs, I think you will be very happy with it.

You can fill your time by thinking how the next one should be specked out.

To soon?

Correct, on the spec’ed part. My previous CQB was ambi safety, FCS and fiber optic front site. Of course these are things that could’ve been changed with a trip back to Wilson but I’m happy that this has worked out this way instead.

Thank you for the welcome back, glad to be back in here. I feel the same about if it were to ever be taken as evidence. The loss of my firearm would be the last thing on my mind

Glad to be back and excited to share some pictures upon delivery.

Nice to have a Wilson that is spec like you want. Enjoy!
My problem is my taste changes, that gives you a reason to start thinking about another one.

Thanks. We will be very happy to see those pics, and excited for you as well, but not as excited as you (of course)!

Looking forward to hearing your glee when you get it.
What about the slide stop? What’s standard on a CQB? Did you get anything different than that?

Another member to the fine CQB club. I recently got a somewhat modified CQB Elite Commander...OD green and black, countersunk slide stop, ball endmill cuts, fluted chamber and forward angled cocking serrations.

Sounds great, Congrats!!

Personally the wait has never been an issue for me whenever I'm going to eventually get exactly what I want and how I want it. I may have not waited as long as some but I have waited up to a year on a few things and I can tell you it's always been well worth it in the end. Thing is that's a small delay when compared to how long I actually get to enjoy and use it.

Currently I’m going with a standard (non-countersunk slide stop) but I am on the fence about that and may change to the countersunk style.

Going with the standard starburst G10 grips and torx screws.

You want the countersunk slide stop.

Sorry, a bit opinionated here. I believe it makes takedown very easy.

The 5" CQB 45 ACP was my first Wilson. I still shoot it a lot. You will be very pleased and amazed. Keep us posted.

Finally Ordered My CQB Today (specs inside)

So I called today and updated my order a bit after thinking it over and looking through some pictures.

I decided to have the slide stop countersunk (this will be my first 1911 to be done that way) and I will be having the trigger, barrel bushing and recoil spring plug all in silver/stainless instead of black AT as originally planned. I like the contrast of some silver with the black.

Now down to my final decisions. I have been up late 2 nights in a row now browsing pictures and thinking over specs.

I think that when I get the kit call I will spec the trigger pull to be around 4.0lbs and change the standard gold bead to a white gold bead.

Last decision to make is if I will get the Ryan Wilson high grip mod or not. I have medium sized hands and my previous CQB was a WCT frame which had a very nice factory cut.

Gold beads are my favorite but I am very interested in seeing a white gold bead. Curious which will perform better.

My current order has a white gold bead (domed) and is due in mid-May or so - should have it for the Bash.
