Ed Brown sub-forum is now dedicated to JimF4M1s

Ed Brown sub-forum is now dedicated to JimF4M1s!

"Dedicated to Jim Flavin (JimF4M1s), US Navy Assault Craft Unit 1, Vietnam Veteran 1968 - 1970. Devoted family man, friend, forum supporter, and Ed Brown enthusiast - your presence will be sorely missed. RIP sailor!"

A big thanks to moderator, Grandpas50AE, Ed Brown Products, the 1911 Forum Team and finally to JimF4M1s for simply being you and sharing yourself with us.

The dedication language was an effort of US1911, Bigdaddymike, and myself working together to keep reasonably condensed and encompass Jim's contribution to the forum and particularly this sub-forum. It was LW McVay that got the dedication posted for the sub-forum. They all deserve the biggest part of the thanks.

Many Thanks!

A few thanks are in order:

Thanks to all the members (J Scott in particular) who recommended that the Ed Brown forum be dedicated to Jim. Thanks to Roger and Mike for their inputs and for Rogerís initiative to jump start the process. A big thanks to LW McV for recognizing how important the dedication was to us and for granting the seal of approval.

Most of all, a huge thanks to our late friend JimF4M1s, for allowing us a glimpse into his life experience, for standing the watch on the battlefield, for not allowing tragedies to negatively define his character, for his devotion to family & friends, and the least of which, although very important to us all, for sharing his creativity and knowledge of Ed Brown 1911s.

Roger, if every human was half as honorable, brave, and helpful as you are, then this would be a much better world. I'll never forget shooting at WC on the second Forum get-together and you were having a health issue. You needed to kneel down for a minute, get some food down your throat, and then you resumed, never complaining and always being a positive and helpful force. Plus, you outshot about everyone there. Great job!

Jim was one of a kind. A few years ago, during one of our long online conversations about God, Country, guns, family and life in general, I shared with him that my trusty pup, Maggie was in need of a very expensive operation to one of her hind legs. Jim was fighting his own battle with his various cancers and Jim, without being asked, ponied up several hundred dollars to her cause. That's just the kind of guy he was and it brings a little tear to my eye today, years later, remembering this. I am going to get a hold of his spouse and let her know this forum lives on in his honor. One of the finest friends I never met, face to facr...RIP Sailor!...Til we meet again...

Jim was very helpful to me when I purchased my first EB, it was my first semi-custom 1911. I would read and look at his pics. Then I would message him with 20 questions. He was always so nice and helpful.

He has some pics that should be posted to the top of the EB forum, he has a fantastic EB collection.

Jim wouldnít feel as though your question is stupid, nor should any of us. If you donít ask, you wonít know.

When you first login to the 1911forum, you see a bunch of different categories/sections; such as General Discussions, Gunsmithing, Colt, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, etc...these are all forums within the 1911forum, but we often refer to them as subforums, or folders, or sections, or categories.

Okay. I didn't see the dedication when I was on yesterday, but now I do; well deserved!

Thank you, US1911.
