1911 rear sight

Looking for suggestions or if it even possible. I have a 1911 with a Bo-Mar rear sight. I am looking to replace it without changing the front sight to something that would sit more over the slide than overhang. Is there such a thing. I tried Brownells and had no luck.

The sight is cobbled into the factory dovetail cut. The slide needs to be recut to bury the sight in the proper position. Very similar to this thread.

That's a pretty common set up for CMP "Hardball" matches. You could install a new rear or reinstall the BoMar but you will have to cut the height of the front sight.
Below is a properly buried BoMar sight.

I am very fond of Dawson adjustable rear and fiber optic front sights:

You may just want to start over with a matched set.

What is the gun and what are the markings on the slide? A few set up that way are a bit rare and were “hard slides “ for competition in the 1960’s. Sometimes the front sight is silver soldered/brazed to the slide. Although that front sight looks a bit odd to be paired with a Drake or similar slide as original. The rear sight was sometimes set back to increase sight radius on old bullseye guns of yesteryear.
