Good Samaritan Gal, Fires her CCW Gun at Thug Robbing Disable Man

She says that she knows the victim and is a special needs person. She fired warning shots and the thug took off running and was caught shortly nearby.

She's lucky her warning shots didn't hit anyone. The cops confiscated her gun. They are still investigating.

Video in the link taken by a bystander with a cell phone camera.

Miami-Dade police Detective Lee Cowart said a woman who witnessed the robbery outside the Popeyes on the corner of Southwest 112th Avenue and Southwest 152nd Street tried to intervene, pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

The woman, who identified herself to Local 10 News reporter Liane Morejon only as Lula, said she was at the Popeyes getting lunch when she saw the robber beating on the victim.
Another local version of the story.

Good for her. Too bad the perp is probably already out doing it again with the catch and release we have in FL.

Looks like the perp ran at the sight of the gun & that she fired her warning as he fled.

Hey, I don't blame her for that. It's a scary, adrenaline-filled situation. I also think she got a bit too close to the scumbag. More distance would be better.

But overall, Well Done! You go, Girl. Hope she gets her gun back soon.

Btw, If the victim really was a Special Needs person, that robber was especially heinous.

Pure evil.

I don't think predatory turds EVER had shame.

Back in 1970 our school had a fundraiser for a sick student. I think it was cancer. The event was a big dinner with donated food with tickets sold to benefit the child. There were Elks, Shriners, Rotarians, & so forth.

Somebody ran off with the money box.

Warning shots are not wise.

Defending a stranger is something to be very cautious about.

I think that maybe the shot (s) may have been misses or possibly ND in this case.

Then explained as "warning" after the fact. Fine by me, I still like what this lady did.

Btw, apparently the vic was not a stranger to the woman. She knew who he was & his handicapped status.

The Catholic church wasn't in attendance, right?

Now I'm really going to Hell.

Assault of a special needs, or any disabled person, in Texas automatically is a felony. The same applies if the victim is over 65.

Reminder to Self.....
Next time I see a bad guy assaulting a disabled person, politely ask the perp to stop.
Nowadays, if you use any threatening words, gestures or actions, then you become the evil person.

Exclamation

"Warning shot" goes to the center mass. If you get up after that, you get a double-tap "warning shot" to center mass again.

If you don't know what your bullets are going to hit, best not to shoot. I admire her intervening...and I appreciate that she was under stress...however I would need more information to decide if her actions were wise or foolish.

She knows the disabled person. How exactly is that a stranger? Two posters missed that!
