Pt1911 triger set screw creeping

At the range yesterday the gun ran flawless till the trigger travel screw ,screwed itself inward freezing my trigger stuck. I had my tool set and quickly unscrewed it enough to continue shooting like a champ. Q. Can this screw be removed without any ill affect ? Q. If not what can be done to keep it from creeping ?

Here is a thread on how to adjust and lock tight the over travel screw, along with the importance of not removing it.
