I noticed the black t on my pro built last year is not as Teflon smooth as the one I have from 2013. Deb says the formula changes frequently, and the current formula is a rougher texture.

I had my 1999 built Pro redone by SACS early last year & the black T is nowhere near the older wet finish. The newer finish is more of a dry looking finish.

My gun was sent back to SACS for the single side safety. I have the original everything. In my case, I have mild paralysis in my weak hand and for me the extra safety presents greater opportunity to be bumped off when carrying.

Thoughts...the new ones coming out that people are waiting for less in quality?

I have owned both 2009 built Pro w in house barrel, sold it 8k rounds later/2 years for same price I had paid or higher I forget. Now I own a early CRG12X & I do see a difference in accuracy w the Nowlin. I am far from a pro shooter myself but a good seasoned gun buddy of mine had 2 Pro's also (1 railed & Non railed) which one of them was a Nowlin & he agrees with me. He regrets selling his Nowlin barrel version years ago & recently tried out mine & still sees a difference. Now if I can find a "local" current production run Pro owner around here to reinforce this that would be great.

Don't forget OP is selling his several Pro's for $4500 (check his sig) a bit biased? you be the judge. trying to hype up old ones from new who knows.

I was under the impression most folks preferred the newer barrels over the predecessors anyway? Also how much truth is there in the contract being up for Fbi and Hrt? It seems alot of that gentleman's offerings are a little on the high side.

I had called SACS and asked them about hard fitting a Nowlin barrel to my PRO. They said around $300 but they would have the gun about 6 months for the Black T process. Probably going to buy the Nowlin barrel and send it myself to be Black Td and then send the gun along with the Nowlin barrel to be fitted.

Had both old and new build, Nowlin and SA, and did not see any real difference between them.

I think the real test would be sandbagged at 50yds. I'll see what my Springfield barrel will do and then take it from there.

A lot of people were afraid of the Nowlin barrels rupturing during firing. Read back some pages and you'll see people discussing this.

There are still a lot of individual police using the Pro, so they are still being made to very high standards. Besides the fact that they are actual Custom Shop guns to begin with.

You will want to have that barrel finished AFTER it has been fitted.

Misinformed people were "afraid"

Nowlin bbls were gtg. They were non ramped and tight tolerances caused issues with frangibles which weren't even used.

That bit about the Nowlin barrels rupturing with normal ammunition is utter BS. A specific type of frangible did cause issues. Solution? Don't shoot that crap ammo. That ammo was never spec'ed to begin with. Sugar water to guzzoline comparison.

Having worked as a DoD contractor for 32 yrs.....I can safely say that the government flat out does NOT like change in a weapon system. They absolutely abhore change. It doesn't matter what data a contractor puts in front of them to prove that newer is better. 99% of the time the government program manager will not approve the change because if something goes sideways.....even if totally unrelated to the change in question. ..his or her butt is on the line. The government culture is so risk averse to change it will drive 55 yr old civilian Sr Program Managers to retirement. LOL!!!! Ask me how I know!!

Having that knowledge. ....there is no doubt in my mind that post FBI contract Pros are not only equal to those earlier Pros.....they're probably better.
