Silent Operator... New 1911 from springfield?

I was entering the giveaway contest and this popped up on the springfield website:

Has anyone else seen this? Springfield site just says "coming soon".

Unfortunately I'm in California and those are considered evil here. If left unattended it could run out and start killing people without making a sound.

Is this going to be a new production gun or is it just one they did up for the contest?

Wonder why no ambi-safety? Would be awesome in black, too.

I'd put one on, along with a black trigger.

Because more people want single side safeties than want ambi safeties. Only 10 percent of the population are left handed. For that 1 in 10 they can add an ambi later if they deem it necessary.

I can afford one of those if I can just quit wasting my money on food, clothes and rent.

it's a useless feature for many users and they also have a higher likelihood of breaking over a single sided safety which is not something you want in a fighting gun

It looks pretty cool.

I certainly understand that, but being a lefty- it pains me to consider the $150 part, plus $50-$100 labor and the wait time of a decent smith to install and contour the new paddles... anytime a new gun purchase is contemplated!

If they (any manufacturer) would offer an ambi to those 10% as an order gun, at no extra charge, I think they'd win so much business that they would make up the cost plus a lot more.

Some MFR's will allow you to order with the ambi and fit it at n/c but you still have to buy the ambi.

flechero, I under stand you frustration but i think you can get exactly what you want for a lot less than you think. send your pistol to sacs... no one will treat you better. they can install your ambi thumb with a turn around time that will surprise you. looks like the work will cost $100. they are fast on small jobs. ask them to email you a shipping label ($40 round trip). 140 total to have your vision brought to fruition by some of the most talented people in th industry.

Burger King that pistol with a little "your way, right awy" you cant afford not to..............

Not a huge fan of the color combo, but that pistol sure is a looker. It fills a very nice niche that I am currently looking for.

I've spent most of my money on Scotch and 1911's.

The rest of it I just wasted.......

Pretty sure this will be a regular production pistol and is not just for the contest. Least I hope so. Which reminds me- I have got to file my tax return! Can't believe I've let uncle hold my money this long.
