More recently through our efforts. Largely promoted without the use of low brow sensationalist drama. Like effigy hangings and such. We have more recently flipped the city council in two of our larger cities to the bright side.

At this point here at least in the commonwealth. The communists are not controlling the narrative. They were seriously thwarted in their attempt to do earlier this year. We managed to accomplish this largely by playing it right. With little need for low brow theatrics. I think that this will serve us well going forward.

One might consider that there are certain bad actors in this game that would be very well served by having civil rights supporters undermined by childish displays. Think about it.
Yes, I'm aware the bills were thwarted, and I'm proud of you guys for that. If I lived anywhere near there, I would have been right with ya. You made the juice not worth the squeeze for enough legislators to make the difference. Bravo. That's always a good thing. Did you change their mind? I seriously doubt it. Besides They did pass a bunch of other legislation that Northam signed during lockdown, not sure what was in it though. And they'll be back, as you well know.

Look, I'm not going to be making any figures to burn anytime soon. Not talented enough and way too busy balancing work, the kids and and maybe some shooting if I'm lucky. If I were at a protest I would choose not to stand next to a burning in effigy statue. But I do like the mindset, and have been waiting for a long time for this kind of stuff. It's high time we start fighting back. Literally. We need to respond in kind. It's the only way. These people are bullies, bullies only understand one thing, force. You guys call it the low road, I call it effective.

Also, these people who would be bolstered by our childish displays are the same people that get caught breaking their own damn "rules" and it makes no difference. No point in playing their game as the playing field is not level.

So, if thousands of people repeatedly contact their state representatives, mayors, and even the Governor himself to complain about their inability to provide for their families due to the partisan lockdown, and their leaders do nothing, then what are they supposed to do? When partisan politics becomes more important than the will of the oppressed majority and Democrat leaders don't care about their own citizens/constituents, then what are those oppressed citizens supposed to do?

Not like minded is right. You can hang your head, hide in a corner and do nothing but hope for the best, or make your voice heard. Whatever that takes.

But you changed no minds my friend. Those rallies are more than what I'm doing about it, so there is that.

Point is, we're completely letting the left control the narrative, just like we always do. Instead of striking fear in the tyrants, were arguing over a stupid statue thingy, just like they want us to.
Bill O’Rellly has callouses from all the fence sitting.

We're $27 Trillion in debt. There are no conservatives any more.

There's a boatload of Republicans, but there aren't any conservatives.

I'm willing to wager that the majority of members here are conservative....but won't run for office.

I'm sure the majority THINK they are conservative. But there are actually quite few. Most are simply Republicans. They're as easy to spot as a tax and spend liberal.

Pointing this out isn't going to gain me much popularity here but...

Quote:
Tens of thousands of gun owners from around the country rallied against new gun restrictions at the state Capitol in January while lawmakers ultimately approved 7 out of 8 of Northam's gun-control package.

The governor announced Friday he'd signed bills that include requiring universal background checks on gun purchases, a red flag bill to allow authorities to temporarily take guns away from people deemed to be dangerous to themselves or others, and limited handgun purchases to one a month.
7 out of 8 passed. The last has been temporarily postponed. They're not done yet.

And we call this a victory?

So I guess those were the bills he signed shortly after lockdown? Good to know, thanks

The article I borrowed that from was dated April 10, so yes. Those are likely the ones he signed. Article here:

https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/...s-law-70087722

The actual assault weapon ban is the only one that came off the table. Some of the rest were 'watered down.' But Blackface Ralphie has promised another round next year. I'll be legitimately surprised if it takes that long.

The last was voted down, not postponed.

And most of the other bills that did get passed were just feel good window dressing to get them reelected. No your fourteen year old kid can not carry a gun around unsupervised. Yes you have to keep your guns locked up in childcare facilities. You can even have yourself put on a do not sell to list. Now that is brilliant!
