gunmagwarehouse.com is one place I have used with very good success.

You could also order some from Dan Wesson if they have any in stock.

I use Wilson’s for my V-Bob. I’ve never had any problem with magazines I got from Wilson. Can’t say that for others — including the DW’s that came with it.

My V-Bob was my first 1911, too. And certainly not my last, but that one will never be sold or traded. You made a good choice.

I usually buy my mags from one of three places

Also try Midwayusa for mags. They frequently have sales with free shipping.

I prefer a flush fit for my bobtails.

Exactly.

I never understood why someone would buy a bobtail.....then use a magazine with a large basepad hanging off it.

ManofValor, congrats on a really nice pistol.

The factory magazines that came with my Valor commanders have been trouble free. They are the flush fit style.

The magazines that came with my V-Bob looked like CheckMate magazines and they were fine at first, but after a few hundred rounds of being flawless with ball rounds, I tried running some HST standard pressure rounds and in the last one in the 8 round magazine it had one of those fun Failures to Feeds where the round ends up sticking straight up, bullet up, between barrel and breach. I had the exact same problem with my C-Bob and after trying many things, what actually worked was changing to new springs (CM45-8-SP-HP-X) and making sure I had the followers with a bump in the middle. I am not sure this is a 100% solution, but so far so good.

I use Wilson Combat in all of my 1911s and always recommend them to anyone wanting a well built reliable magazine. There are some others that are just as good and my Dan Wesson mags have been great but I like the WC.

True for a carry piece. However, for competition or home defense, a magazine pad helps to ensure a secure reload.

Chip McCormick, especially RPMs.

But there are several others that also have perfect performance records for me.

Here's one explanation:

The in-gun magazine is a flush-fit; the spare magazine has a basepad. The basepad reduces printing and wear on clothing. Also -seems- easier to find blind. My CCW magazines are all kept paired this way. So when a pair is retired from CCW duty, a replacement pair needs members both with/without.

I love my Wilson’s, but the McCormick flush mount magazines would be what I would use if I had a bobtail.

I have both brands, but pretty much use the Wilson’s at the range since they load smoothly like butter!

One feature I do like better about the McCormick magazines is that the snap in a little easier when loading my guns with the slide forward for tactical reloads or just getting the extra round capacity in the weapon.
