Bought a Concept IV

I tossed, then turned, and second guessed, and finally pulled the proverbial trigger on a new Concept IV.

I was stuck between this C4, a UTC, and CC, which were all priced within $100 of each other, but ultimately the two tone look on the C4 pulled me in.

So, I have a picture request for anyone who has a two tone Baer. They don’t seem to be incredibly common.

And, any gee whiz stuff I may want to know about what sets the Concept line apart from the CC or UTC would be appreciated. I see that the model that I bought didn’t have night sights, which I appreciate, because I’m not a fan. But what else don’t I know?

Proud to be a part of the LB family, and to get away from those smelly Springfield guys.

Congrats!

Check the stickie in this forum for model differences.

I have a Concept III sitting at my FFL in "permit jail" awaiting me to receive my permit to take it home. NJ is a great place to be........

Show us pics when received and I will do the same. Should be this week.

The CIV is the same as the CIII but with a fixed rear sight. Same as the PII but in two tone with fixed rear.

I’m pretty excited to have it. Apparently the Concept IV is sort of a rare bird, which always adds a little fun.

I’ll post pictures when it gets here!

Congrats. Now go get a case of ball ammo and some CLP and follow Uncle Les's break-in procedure...

Congratulations! I really like the idea of the blued slide and stainless frame, makes perfect sense. Looking forward to pictures.

Fantastic!

Excellent choice! Iíve thought about the Concept IV without FCS, because Iím a fan of the old Colt Combat Elite two-tone.

Fun Time! Load up 47D magazines and fan the trigger

I rack 90% of the time in front cocking serrations, so they work for me. I also press check (without my thumb inside of the trigger guard. I just learned that that was a thing), so burn me at the stake if you’d like, but I dig the FCS’s

It hasn’t even shown up yet, and I already have plans to send it back at some point to upgrade it to UM specs. But, that’s down the road a bit.

I should have pictures on Friday afternoon.

Haven’t even fired it yet, but I’m 90% sure that I’ll only be buying Bears from now on.

Five things stood out immediately.....

First, pictures don’t do this gun justice. I’ll have to see if I can get my girlfriend to grab some (a wildlife biologist who takes amazing photos). But really, other two tone guns I’ve owned in the past didn’t look nearly as good.

Second, the “out of spec” frame feels incredibly good. I chuckle a little bit at the entire notion of even calling it “out of spec”, but that’s a different conversation.

Third, I didn’t know how much I’d like a wide thumb safety until I tried one. I didn’t realize that that was what I’d be receiving when I ordered it. Now, I know it’ll be a requirement.

Fourth, you guys weren’t joking about being tight. After breaking lockup it’s incredibly smooth, but that initial break takes some effort fo sho.

Lastly, the trigger is perfect. I always thought that Wilson triggers felt good, and I’ll have to try one side by side to confirm, but my trigger job must have been done by a dude who was trying to get a pay raise that day.

I’m happy with it. It’ll go back to Baer for some aesthetic treatment in the future, but for now it’ll serve as EDC, pin gun, and kick the crap out of my girlfriend on the dueling tree gun (she gets no mercy).

Congratulations on your purchase, sounds like you're already pleased with it but if you like it now wait til you shoot it. My Baers have not only been wicked accurate guns but also easy to shoot accurately, they make me look better than I am. Looking forward to your pics and range report.

You were looking for pics of two-tone Baers, here's a couple of my Boss, one as it came from the factory and one from after a visit to Joe Chambers.

And a pic of my old Ed Brown Special Forces, made back before EB had their own frames and slides and bought Baer's to build their guns on.

I like it, I'd love one without FCS and in 9mm.
