Rear sight options?

I purchased a DW Guardian a few years ago and hadnít realized the rear sight dovetail had been modified as I was still rather new to 1911s and this was my first Dan Wesson. The rear sight dovetail had been cut to a modified Novak dovetail to fit an adjustable Novak LoMount sight. Before realizing this, I sent my slide to DW to fit the ledge sight they usually come with and upon its return, found out it had been modified. It doesnít affect the function, but I was wondering what my options would be if I want to keep the same style ledge sight but fill the gap or should I just continue to live with it?

I would leave it as is if the current sight works for you. But something like that might drive an ocd person crazy. It would either need to be welded and machined or have an adjustable put back to fill that gap

Hmm, that's a dilemma alright, being from the OCD camp. In the past I've machined sight plugs out of delrin when mounting Matchdot rails but that wouldn't work here as there is nothing to hold it in. Maybe black epoxy with release agent on the sight?

Micro TIG or laser welding by Pullman Arms in Worchester, Mass. It will require re-machining the sight dovetail and refinishing the slide.
