Wc/dw

I sent this gun to WC back in June of 2018 for a rmr cut, bevel slide, fit their magwell, recess and crown the barrel plus refinish the slide and all small parts. The gun ran into problems one after the other. I received a call sometime in August and the person I was dealing with told me they canít install the magwell because of the aluminum frame. I said ok forget it then, then I received another call in December stating that while doing a function test they noticed the a round dropped in to deep into the chamber, Iíve never had any issues with this gun whatsoever. Also they milled the slide for their own rmr plate which should be on their website soon I understand, it was supposed to do milled for the Trijicon plate. I send me some pictures so I can see if I like it, which at this point I couldnít do much about anyway. He also sent me pictures of the barrel with a round in and a picture of one of their barrels so I can see the difference. At this point the gun was mostly done, I also noticed in the pictures they didnít finish to the hammer and bushing as I asked. Back to the barrel, the representative told me they didnít feel comfortable letting the gun go in that condition. So he Suggested I contact DW to see if they would take care of it, so I called DW, and spoke to Endre which is a great guy by the way. He told me they would take care of the barrel. I called WC back and told them what they said, but now instead of me waiting to get the gun back from WC and then send it off to DW he suggested I call Wilson back and see if they would pay to have Wilsoyput one of their barrels in it. So once again I called DW to ask them and of course they declined which I knew they would and I donít blame them. So now I called WC back and told them they would take care of the barrel themselves but wouldnít pay for a Wilson barrel. The rep said he would call me back, he called and made a offer I couldnít refuse on one of their barrels because of all the aggravation I was going through. So I said go ahead at this point I just wanted the gun back. So this was a week before Christmas I waited about three more weeks because I havenít heard back from WC. I got the rep on the phone and he said thereís more bad news their barrels wonít fit DWís frame. At this point I ready to tell them just send me the gun back. He told me they located a barrel that would fit and they are just waiting for it to come in. So finally sometime in the beginning of February I received the call saying the gun is ready to ship, Great right, it doesnít end yet I received the gun and guess what? No rmr was in the box. When I sent the gun I also sent them a brand new in the box Trijicon type 2 rmr. So immediately called them and spoke the rep and asked him where is the rmr? He first questioned me if I did in fact send it then he remembered he told me to send everything so they can mount it and test fire the gun. He will call me back, he called and said they couldnít locate it but they will send me a new one from their stock. I received the rmr installed it tested fired it and allís good. I wanted to share this funny story this by no means a bashing on WC part or DW, they are both great companies that stand by their work. The rep told me now itís a WC and itís guaranteed fit life.

That's why I will never again have a pistol built from a base gun.

You get paid for writing on your cell phone? That long story must have taken an hour to type!

You mentioned that you are using WCs new plate on your gun? Can you post some further pictures of it?

Glad it all worked out! I used to think 1911s were made to a set standard in sizing. I’ve since learned builders seem to have their own sizing in house that doesn’t always match others.

I will, itís very similar to the Trijicon plate, the difference is the rear sight is Wilsonís battle sight.

Sounds like it took a bit longer than you planned and there was quite a bit of back and forth, but man.. I really like the way it came out. You've got a Wilson Combat Valkyrie with RMR! Would love to know how it shoots. RMRs on 1911s and 2011s are just cool!

Itís not that the DW barrel wouldnít fit, it was that the DW barrelís chamber was cut to deep.

Direct custom cut using an RMSc optic, this in house option may allow the RMR to sit low enough for me to like and be able to carry 24/7 and allows my gun to remain totally a Wilson product. Plus I have two other 1911s I want done and since this allows an actual RMR I won't have any durability concerns.

I carried mine for the first time yesterday in a Owb holster that I bought from WC. I hardly noticed it very comfortable.
