The long wait is over

Brown was exceptional in the turn-around time. The engraver, on the other hand, wasn't; but it was worth the wait. Not much with the camera, but here goes nothing:

Very nice. I have the engraved 100th anniversary. It sits in the safe, too many others to shoot. Makes me wonder why I bought it.

Beautiful work. Really like the subtle changes in usual engraving formats and exceptionally done. The checkering is outstanding from EB. From the looks of the gold bead and "horse shoe" rear site I'm guessing it's going to be a shooter for you and not a safe queen. Some of the best work I've seen in years.

Just curious, how long did it take from start to finish?

Thanks, gents

Short back story:

The engraver, Rex, is the son of a former local gun-shop owner. I purchased my first shotgun and deer rifle from his dad almost fifty years ago (still have the shotgun). Rex is a couple of years older than me, so I've been aware of his talent since he first started going to gun shows with his dad back in the 70s/80s. I've always wanted to own some of his work, but you know how life gets in the way of a lot of stuff. Finally had the opportunity and wherewithal (along with the great work Brown did for me) to have him do some work for me, so I took the plunge. It seemed like it took a long time, but in the big picture it was well worth it.

This won't be a safe queen. It was a "shooter" before the work, I'm sure it will be the same now, just I'll have a bigger smile on my face at the range.

Thanks for the positive comments.....you guys want to call my wife?

Sent it to Brown to have some work done on the slide, then to the engraver, then back to Brown for refinish, new sites, et cetera. The turn around time at Brown's was excellent, less than three weeks total. The engraver was a little longer, 18 months... To his credit, he does teach at a engraving school in, I believe, Kansas. He also had several other projects going, so I wasn't first in line. I seemed like a long time, but the results say different, at least to me, well worth the wait.

Very handsome engraving job. I like the triangle pattern of engraved areas.
