Ronin commander?

I would love to see a steel framed commander in the Springfield lineup. The Elite series basically mimics the RO lineup with finish and some other changes.
So maybe Springfield will eliminate one of those lines to make room for a steel framed compact or Champion sized gun?
Or is this just wishful thinking?

Well apparently Springfield is eliminating the Elite line. Are they just cutting back or making room?

Hopefully cutting back to make room . I think the Elite line had the wrong
options for the wrong price . Its a Range Officer with Black T finish and G -10
thin grips .

They have :
The Defender - 549.00 - sells for 500.00
The Range officer - 942.00 - sells for 700.00
The Ronin - 849.00 - sells for ( not really a history yet )

The Elite target - 1048.00 - sells for 850.00

The loaded standard - 950.00 - sells for 800.00
The loaded operator - 1308.00 - sells for 1100.00
The TRP standard - 1648.00 - sells for 1300.00

Where is the 1400.00 to 1500.00
Or the 1700.00 to 2000.00 ranges ?

Where is the checkering other then the TRP ?

I asked the question directly to Springfield CS, so maybe they will come out with something their customers have been asking for.

Just one source on Gunbroker for new Ronins...
$736.99.

Thought I read in American Rifleman that they were planning a 'commander' sized Ronin.

According to some articles when it debuted there will be a commander version but it will likely be a lightweight model.

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...ld-1911-ronin/

A 9mm Government is on my list to buy. I started checking gun deals a few weeks after SHOT and just last week the "in stock" listings took off. Still have only seen one 45 version on GB.

Here is the gun deals listing for the 45 model.

You are correct . At the release of the Ronin they said Commanders were
on the way .

If that is the case and Springfield takes the Ronin down the alloy frame path what is going to be different from the RO model’s currently offered? Finish, rear sight and trigger style? How about a run of commander sized TRP’s?
Subtle changes will certainly lead to people looking elsewhere for the features they want.

During Shot it was mentioned that the Ronin commander would be a 'true' commander at 4.25". Aren't most of Springfield's 'commander" models only 4"? (new to Springfield, isn't that 'champion' sized?)

Your right. Springfield went to 4 inch bull barrel guns some time ago. Coming out with a bushing 4.25 gun would open the door for way more customization and options.

I want a true commander for duty carry.

I have 38-39" sleeve length arms and I sometimes have to tweak my body to get a 5" out of a duty holster.

I have always preferred commander length.

I WANT a ACW Classic Carry but a bushing barreled railed Commander (steel) in .45 with modern sights and decent trigger out of the box will suit me just fine.

It will also have to fit in a modern duty holster, but thats another story.

People have been asking for this one for as long as Ive been on this forum and I have no idea why SA wont move on it... Maybe the cost? TRP's aren't cheap but out of the box its been great for me. If they did I would be looking really hard at it as the prefect companion to the full size..

It would be cool to see any type of commander in the SA lineup (4.25" bushing barrel ).

Yes, the Ronin Operator commander ( 4" ) or maybe ( 4 1/4" ) is going to be alloy framed according to the website and reviews. I have the RO Champion 4" in 9mm and .38 super barrels. The .38 super barrel I ordered from Jarvis barrels and it just dropped right in with no fitting whatsoever. Shoots great. I am just trying to get my Ronin full size in .45 if my local dealer can find me one.

When you got your 9mm RO, and dropped in the Jarvis 38 Super barrel, what other upgrades/modifications did you have to make for the gun to work 100% besides 38 Super magazines?

I would love to get a Ronan in 9mm and get a 38 Super barrel for it-if this is possible.

I love the super tuned series . They should have come out with something like that
instead of the Elite series .

Hopefully they learned something now that the Elite series has been shown the door.
