I was off on a day trip yesterday so in the AM I swung by a Mailbox plus place thinking, crap I'll need to tell them there is a Godawful gun in the box and it might go full auto.......but alas the Fedex guy was just leaving with his morning pick-up and all I needed to do is hand it to him.
I have had a few hundred flawless rounds through my XDS-45. It is my pocket BUG. Now I have to borrow an S&W 640 .357 magnum j-frame revolver from my wife for a pocket BUG until the XDS returns.
Funny, my Colt series 70 did the same thing hammer follow and multiple discharges when I first got it...I initially called it the two round burst mode. Then it progressed into a 7 round full auto mode. Funny thing is all 7 rounds would end up in the same spot on the target. (Turned out to be the sear and hammer adjustments).
never experienced or seen a burst fire .
but reckon you must have the hand strength of a block layer in his prime to hold a 1911 level thru a full auto burst fire
Mine was shipped yesterday. Scary stuff in my opinion. Never had an ounce of trouble with my XDs; but, thanks to this forum, I immediately printed the documents and shipped it off.
Read they got 7000 the first day after the recall, think it's going to take a while.....

Here is what I was told by someone with "intimate knowledge" of the situation. They have friends and family that work for SA and themselves live 5 miles from the Reese family compound. "The first round of repair parts is supposed to come in on the 16th. Enough to fix the first 1000 and then supposedly 500 per day made after that."
Of course this is 2nd hand knowledge so as usual take it with a grain of salt. Personally I trust the source.
sent from my cell phone, far far away but still monitored by the NSA
I sent my XD-s 9mm on 3 Sept and just this morning talked with Springfield customer service. The customer service rep said that they expect the turnaround to be 30 days from 5 Sept (the date they logged my pistol in). So, it will be a rather long wait.
Mine arrived there on Sept. 4... I called and asked if I could arrange mine to be delivered somewhere else while I was at work and also asked ETA. I was told they are not going to start working on repairs until mid-sept., But they will finish them in the order they are received. Nothing but the recall or warranty work will be done at that time. I wanted them to change sights while it was there, but I'd have to send it in again for that... (I'll just do it myself when I get it back)
I was quoted 2 to 4 weeks when I spoke with customer service. Since we are now coming up on the four week mark that this recall was announced and some members here were the first to return their XDs, please post here as soon as your pistol comes in; let us know when you sent it in and when you got it back. This way we can get an idea of where we stand in line.
I had nothing but problems with my sig 938... bought it in april so it should have been in the later build with the new upgraded parts. after 250-300 rounds the first extactor broke. sent it back. got it back and it ran fine for another 150-200 rounds until the firing pin broke..sent it back....got it back and shot it more. 200-250 more rounds another busted extractor.. sold it when I got it back. The thing that really erked me from day one it did this, and every time it went back to sig, I wrote a detailed description and they wouldn't acknowledge the dropping round issue:
From day one, insert loaded mag, rack the slide. remove mag to top off, it would strip two rounds out on the ground/floor everytime. sometimes it would be three. sig claimed it "didn't impede the function of the firearm and was completely normal"
I sold it and bought my colt Mustang. I wanted that from the beginning but was leary of it being 380. I had tons of 9mm and didn't want another caliber. I was glad to have only lost 50 bucks on the sig. I liked the sights, and that was it.
I have an XDS 45. I've had it since January. I have over 1200 rounds through it with no issues. There is an issue with the grip safety and not resetting the trigger if the slide is back and the trigger depressed and somehow letting off the grip safety doesn't allow the trigger to reset causing the pin to contact the primer when the slide is racked. I'll wait to send it in as it as there is no difference sitting in my gunsafe than in springfields graveyard. I'm sure at least a dozen will get mixed up or lost as they have recalled all of them.. that is why there was so many.
I bought the Glock 30S two days after the announced the recall from the same dealer that sold me the XDs. I really wanted a polymer .45, since the only .45's that I had were four 1911's I owned. I was going to get the Kahr PM45 instead of the XDs since I've got several Kahrs and I am familiar with them and know how to detail strip them blind folded.
I've always associated .45 ACP's with 1911's and this XDs was a change for me.
I may sell the XDs when it comes back and get the Kahr. I still want a sub-compact polymer frame .45. The Glock 30s is nice but it's nowhere near as compact as the XDs or the Kahr PM45. Even the Glock 36 doesn't offer anything as a compromise for its size vs capacity.
We understand that our decision to announce a voluntary safety recall without a final solution in place has caused confusion and frustration. We sincerely apologize for that inconvenience. However, your safety is, and always has been, our paramount concern. And that is why we decided to issue the voluntary safety recall before we had a guaranteed upgrade solution in place.
Our decision not to wait was based on putting you, our customer, first. Some companies build in several weeks of lead time before announcing their recalls. But, we didn't feel that was the most responsible approach in this case since our priority is your safety.
We originally estimated a 30-day turn-around time, but it has unfortunately taken longer to develop and identify an upgrade solution. Please know that we are continuing to test potential upgrade solutions at this time and we have been doing so since we became aware of this issue. This testing is nearing completion and we will post any new updates as soon as we have identified a final upgrade solution.
This is the first I heard of this. They recalled the gun without having a repair solution figured out. They still haven't figured out how they will fix it. I cannot for the life of me understand this. If I had known this, I would have kept the gun and used it at the gun range only. I never had the problem they described in the recall. This is insane. They recalled God-knows how many guns, 50,000 plus, which are now sitting at their warehouse, deemed too dangerous to carry.

Wow, what a boondoggle. I sold my unreliable XDS about two weeks before the recall and I'm more and more glad I did.
I just hope SA gets it together and takes care of their customers.
