Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks no longer work for me. I click on them and all I get is a blank page. I can copy the link and paste it into the new (blank page) window address and get to the site, but with longer links this doesn't work since the displayed address is shortened with dots. I did send a PM to the forum IT desk but have not received a response and it has been a few weeks. This is a fairly recent problem, started having problems a month ago. I'm sure the problem is on my end since I see no other complaints. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Hi there,

Can you link me to a thread with hyperlinks that you're having issues with? Can you also let me know what device/browser you're using?

No hyperlinks work. I am using Microsoft Edge. I can't even click on ones I created. A new page pops up that says "blank page"

For example, in this thread:

https://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=976670

If I click on:

www.heirloomprecision.com

I get a blank page, but if I click on:

https://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=265817

The page loads

I can almost recreate with Edge. I click on the link to heirloom, and at first it loads blank, but if I wait a few moments it finishes loading. Now, I'm not sure of why there is that pause, but it could be that your browser is getting stuck there.

Do you use any form of adblocker or popup blocker with your Edge browser?

Can you try giving your browsers cookies a clean?

Are there any browser extensions running on your version of Edge?

I looked under extensions and didn't see anything active. Is there anything in settings that may be causing the problem? I've been through it a few times and can't find anything obvious.

Can you try clearing your cache and cookies, or try another browser to see if this is Edge specific?

I did clear cookies and history a few days ago. I tried 3 other browsers, opera works, but edge, chrome and firefox do not work.

Do photos via “[IMG ... \IMG]” tags work? Asking because those tags each resolve to an external URL ... if the photos load, it occured to me this might be a “parental control” filter. All of a sudden, 2(?) months ago, I could no longer load JPFO.com from my phone while away from home; @home it loads fine.

Photos load fine. Everything works as it always did except I cannot follow links to outside web sites. What did you do to defeat the parental control filter?

I have four different browsers I run for dedicated applications. Only one works to load outside webpages from this site. I've tried lots of different setting menu switch options, nothing works as of yet.

Like you experienced, the problem suddenly became apparent about 2 months ago

Certs? What OS? All those browsers are available on Android, Linux and Windoze for sure. Not sure if: Edge is on Linux; FF is on iOS. On my S.u.S.E. Linux host, FireFox recently stopped loading a bunch of pages and parts of pages: where I got, so far, debugging it was cert orgs and lack of common auth methods (apparently I need to upgrade FF) -_;

JPFO still loads on my iPad: this is teaching me patience ... but I wish it didn’t take so long.

Not sure what changed, but now hyperlinks load fine again. I didn't change anything on my end so it was either a change at your end or a change to MS Edge.

Gave this a test on my end as well and it worked.

Are you still experiencing this?

It is still working fine. Another unsolved mystery.

BTW, I do like the fact that the link opens up in a new window, rather than loading a new page on the current window.
