I used to have all of my pics on Photobucket. When they pulled their little stunt, I transferred all of them over to Flickr and closed my Photobucket account.

I like Flickr a lot better. When "sharing" a photo from Flickr, I select the "BBCode" option. It allows me to select in which size I wish to have my photo displayed. For this forum, it is 800x600. No resizing is needed. It looks like this...

Photobucket is not deleting the user accounts when you request that they close them out.
I bet they are keeping them to pad the system so they can claim they have "X" number of users.

I just recently started using postimage.org and am liking it. You can choose how large your uploads will display on forum sites, interface is clean and easy to use.

Dumbest thing I read in a LONG time...

Gov does not have a good track record for running anything 'better' or more 'efficiently'.

The U.S. ranks 28th in the world in mobile internet speeds.

We have slower mobile internet than Greece.

How's that for great internet from private companies?

Yes, mobile networking is one area where the US is behind. Some countries say they are on the verge of implementing 5G networks and we don't even have real 4G networks yet. Our network providers are making so much money off us now (read ripping us off) that they are not very motivated to invest in better network infrastructure.

This is not evidence our Government should be in charge of this. Just sayin.

On topic, thanks for all the ideas in this thread for posting pics!

No but it is evidence that in some areas private companies don't have any competition, charge as much as they want, and provide service only to areas where there are huge profits to be made.

Not a huge problem if you have true high speed internet (25 mbps) which I suspect you have.

18% of the US population doesn't have HSE.

I have what my provider says it's HSE but it's only about half of the feds definition. Yet they still charge me for HSE.

Just sayin.

I'm not talking about health care and that isn't a subject I care to discuss.

I'm talking about sloooooow internet which is what the OP was trying to work around.

If he had access to decent internet speed he wouldn't have to deal with people who do that don't pay attention to file size when they post something.

The fact is people in rural communities don't have broadband and people who live in cities do. The lack of broadband in the rural areas of this country is doing nothing but making the political divide even bigger.

It was the same problem in the 30's with electricity.

Quote:
In the early 1930s, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Rural Electrification Administration, 90 percent of American farmers lived without power. Many families could not access running water, heat and light for the home. The cost of running electric lines to the country’s most remote areas was prohibitive for profit-seeking businesses, but the REA found eager partners in rural electric cooperatives that had started to spring up in small communities with an eye toward modernization. The government began providing the co-ops loans to build out their electric networks, and by the end of the 1940s most farms in the country had power.
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...et-in-america/

Note that FDR (a socialist democrat) solved that problem. Looks like there is no real incentive for private companies to do anything like that with broadband just like electricity in the 30's. Probably going to be up to people at the local/state level to provide their own thru co-ops and gov't loans. Gov't loans, you remember those when the auto and financial industry had to get bailed out by taxpayers.

Tell me again how private companies manage their businesses so well.
