let's help people to learn to add pictures correctly

Will someone on here please make a short video on how to post a picture on here without using an image site? And then post that video on here?

please?

I am so tired of seeing huuuuuuge pictures on here.
I can't wait for them to load on my slow internet that I have.

I was thankful someone on here showed me how to do this a long time ago.
I think it's time someone made a video to help other people in this regard.

thank you

1. Click "Go Advanced"
2. Click "Manage Attachments" in the "Additional Options" menu
A box will appear that says "Manage Attachments"
3. Click one of the "Choose File" buttons
A "quick access" to your personal files will appear
4. Double click on the picture or file that you would like to upload.
Repeat process with additional "Choose File" buttons if more pictures/files are desired.
5. Once satisfied with the files selected, click the "Upload" button
6. It can take a minute for the files to upload to the post. Once they are uploaded you will the files listed in "Additional Options" menu below. Click "Submit Reply"

OP, this isn't exactly a video. But, I get aggravated about the same thing. Hope this helps.

Every image that is too large is automatically re-sized when I view them on this site. It gives me the option to click on them to enlarge them if I want. Not really understanding the issue...

Most of the image hosting sites have a forum option when copying a link.

At least the two that I've used does.

But I know how frustrating it can be. We didn't have high speed internet here until about 4 years ago. Some areas on this island still don't have it. I guess that's what happens when you let private companies manage something that should have been a utility like electricity to begin with. I'm at the end of my rope with my phone company. Only one provider and they don't care because if I want a landline it's them or nobody. They rob me for HS internet. A co-op is forming here to provide HS internet to the whole island.

And please use another hosting service than the archaic, obsolete photobucket.

imgur.com is free, hosts full resolution images, gives you nice short links, and strips your exif data when you upload. You can also sign up for free account to make albums and keep track of your images.

Agreed.

I vote 3 day suspension for anyone still posting dead-link photobucket pictures in 2018.

You need to do a better job of searching. I posted the same info that SlowBullet provided about a week ago for the umpteenth time. It works fine as long as you have the pic on your computer. Otherwise, transfer from your camera to the computer. Now that you know how, why don't you make a video?

I think I like using the linked images from imgur better than the attachment method. Plus it does not take up any space on the forum servers while the attachment method does.

Just NEVER use photobucket.

And I agree and support the suspension for using it.

Photobucket comment

I used to use Photobucket, and over a number of years posted many gun pictures of mine on various websites. Then about a year ago Photobucket decided they wanted to charge for that which had been free until then. All my photos in website past postings were replaced by a little sign that said I had to pay up to restore my service. This annoyed me, and I vowed never to use Photobucket or pay for a subscription there. Since then I either don't post pictures or else upload a photo from my computer direct to the website. I'm looking into the site Imgur as an alternative.

There are a lot of free photo hosting sites. photobucket is not free and is just the worst of all of the hosting sites. However you never know when the one you choose will go bad. Just kind of the luck of the draw. I chose Imgur and 'so far' it has been great.

I'll be dammed... you mean all those steps I went through in post 2 could have been scaled back if I had simply looked for that paper clip?

Tinypic works well and costs nothing. You do have the option to set your profile to private, but I don't know if that covers pics or not.

The thing that pisses me off the most is people that upload an unresized picture. I always resize my stuff for upload using Irfanview. People use the forum tool for uploading. I always run my pointer over pics I find interesting, but if they are over a certain mb, I don't bother opening them.

For some reasons, I cannot attach files from my iPad. It says the extension type is incorrect.
