Chicago Hosted Gun Buyback: 164 guns to be destroyed

Yeah... that will bring crime, violence, disorder in the windy city to a complete halt, because everyone knows that gang members value a $100 Walmart gift card above anything else.

Quote:
Chicago police said they collected 164 guns and 26 replica guns at Saturday's event. The guns will be destroyed and never returned to the streets.

"It empowers members of the community to take part in their own safety," Novalez said.

Residents received a $100 gift card for every gun turned in. Replica weapons, like BB guns, were also exchanged for a $10 gift card.
Meanwhile this weekend looters smashed store windows and over 100 people have been arrested in spontaneous rioting.

Videos circulating online show widespread looting and clashes with police across Chicago’s Magnificent Mile shopping district early Monday, sparked by an officer-involved shooting hours earlier that left a 20-year-old man wounded.

I saw one Hi-Power in that box, while the rest of the guns seen were cheap Rohm and Taurus revolvers, and the rest were all replica/BB guns. The only rifles were old hunting rifles or shotguns. Not a single evil AR-15 in sight. If it makes Chicagoans feel good then that's up to them, but the lives saved by this exercise was precisely 0. The actual bad guys are not dumb enough to relinquish their weapons.

Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

I sure hope those people in Chicago's Magnificent Mile shopping district feel safer with all those replica guns off the street... That should reduce all this violence...

A wave of warmth spread over me as I watched that video . . . then I realized I had wet myself by laughing so hard.

Exactly.

It does leave one wondering whether the Chicago politicians are as smart as the bad guys. Or dumber still.

But on second thought, maybe they're all bad guys.

And with that realization, it seems not worth going through mental gymnastics in an effort to sort out this mix of "Chicago people" into "good" and "bad"...easier to say it's a mixed up mess of denizens who wholly disregard the U.S. Constitution...and who deserve what they get.

Well whoever gave up that Hi-Power is going to feel pretty stupid when they realize they could've gotten over $1200 for it on Gunbroker.

Their minds seem to be like concrete: thoroughly mixed and permanently set.

Meanwhile, the mayor says the solution is more "gun control".
Me thinks she needs a little more "gum control".

And how many of them will turn up at crime scenes of police shooting bad guys.
Even though they were in the “buy back” and “destroyed” ?

It’s all theater; theater for their audience, that all. It’s an emotional “we did something “ even if the something is really nothing. It makes National news and everybody in their audience feels better because, God knows, those replica gun are dangerous.

Clearly racist, since they held this in a 100% black neighborhood. Isn't that what we're being told we're supposed to conclude from this?

The event in Austin that PolymerMan posted showed quite a few nice guns. I spotted some S&W revolvers for example.

Dang, that sucks. The goal of these "buy-backs" is supposed to get the guns from potentially getting into criminal hands & to benefit the folks turning them in.

Okay, let's roll with that.

I say that they should return the guns to the lawful owners if possible & if they cannot be located, then they should be sold through a FFL.

The guns would then be bought by lawful citizens.

And the profits used for whatever community programs, job-training, etc they wanted.

But melting down $400+ guns into manhole covers is a massive waste of value/funds.

As for the Ravens, RG's & Jennings maybe they could be melted into fishing weights. I don't think I'd trust a man hole covered with that material

All in furtherance of the BLM rioters and looters. Yet another snapshot of the same old Chicago way:

"We don't even know his name yet, but a 20-year-old man who had already wracked up four arrests on his record was shot and wounded by Chicago police after shooting at them and running. In so doing, he inspired a movement.

That movement took the form of a "very orchestrated" caravan of cars overnight Sunday-Monday that rushed aggrieved parties about 10 miles from Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, where the shootout with police took place, to the Magnificent Mile downtown shopping district. Once there, folks expressed their outrage over systemic racism by helping themselves to whatever they could carry off from some of poshest stores – from Nordstrom to Gucci to Louis Vuitton to a Tesla dealership."

https://www.rt.com/op-ed/497649-chic...oting-looting/

In Chicago, they gotta be sure that good people can't do anything to stop the crime.

None, the police are smart enough to not log them in originally. Or have that data magically disappear.

There is a Colt at the bottom of that pile. Center top.
Possibly a Model 357 or a Trooper?

That is hilarious! "Slave revolt"; reparations. Because slavery was just abolished in the US about ten years ago.....

The Dem system intentionally creates controllable losers who will vote Dem. So in a very real sense, a soft virtual slavery is still with us, and of course the plan to extend it to the whole country is well on its way. Covid-19 is just the latest chess move; but I digress.

Here you have it in all its full, unedited, unabridged glory as Areil Atkins (Spokesperson for BLM in Chicago) explains reparation in her own words.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbS8WKEk6KQ

https://nypost.com/2020/08/11/black-...ng-reparation/

Quote:
“I don’t care if somebody decides to loot a Gucci’s or a Macy’s or a Nike because that makes sure that that person eats. That makes sure that that person has clothes,” Ariel Atkins said at a rally outside the South Loop police station Monday, local outlets reported.

“That’s a reparation,” Atkins said. “Anything they want to take, take it because these businesses have insurance.”
Funny how the mainstream broadcast media (ABC, NBC, CBS) on public airways won't air that twit... only on Fox. Obviously its not part of the commie liberal media's agenda to expose this BLM movement for what it is... Marxist thugs.

See folks, as I said before, a person of color gets killed by a cop for any reason, justified or not, then every person of color is entitled to a 70 inch TV, Gucci handbags, hair extensions... etc. Its the new social adjustment reparations act courtesy of the leftist Marxist liberals that have taken over most metropolitan areas. Its the lasting legacy of the Obama administration. If the Democrats win the White House this November, its game over for all of us law abiding people of all color and ethnicity. The criminals will have free run of our nation.

Unfortunately the Robin Hood mindset has long existed in poor communities. When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. Certainly not your sense of morality. The ends justify the means, and other people can worry about whether it's right or wrong. I'm not a fan of Jesse Jackson, but the fact that this b**ch told him to mind his own business speaks volumes.

And by the way, not excusing the things Bill Cosby did, but it's pretty apparent that his downfall began when he spoke up and told his own brethren to clean up their act and stop blaming the rest of the world for their problems.
