American Classic Commander 9mm

I picked up a used blued 9mm Metro Arms American Classic commander a few weeks ago. Couldn't tell if it had even been fired, looked new when I got it.

I've been shooting 9mm 1911s and 2011s for a long time, and something about the American Classic really impressed me - the blued finish.

I'd prefer a 9mm 1911 to have a ramped barrel, this does not, but so far so good. I've put 300 rounds through it now and he few failures to feed I had I can blame on a faulty Dan Wesson magazine.

The blued finish is excellent as is the accuracy. It's not as well finished as a Dan Wesson, lots of tool marks on the inside of the slide, but for the $375 I paid for it...it's a gem!

I did a trigger job on one (9mm Commander!) a few yeas ago and I too was impressed with the fit and finish. Don't know about the metallurgy but the owner was happy!

The grips were fine but basic and the hammer was what the Dremel was designed for! I wanted to "Dremel" out the inside of that hammer! I don't recall the sight set up!

Smiles,

Mine has Novak style sights with a skeletonized hammer. It appears to have the Metro Arms logo in it which I don't mind..

The trigger on mine was cleaned up too, no longer has any creep. The safety has as nice of a crisp on/off as my DW Specialist commander.
