Happy adoption day!

March 29, 1911, the US Army signed off on using this new-fangled 7-shot autoloading pistol, to replace the revolvers.

Any Boricuas here will instantly recognize this...

"Feliz, feliz en tu dia

Amiguito que Dios te bendiga,

Que te pase un camion por encima,

Y que cumplas muchos mas!!"

It's our own demented gallows-humor-laden take on Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday (Adoption) day, Colt 1911!

109 years.. and still the one that everyone wishes they could be.

I'm really loathe to say Birthday, because the 1911 wasn't just born in a day. It took JMB about what.. 10 years? to get it right. Or at least to get it to the satisfaction of the Ordnance Board.

In recognition of the day, since I can't go shoot it due to .. reasons .. I took mine down, cleaned her, and put her back together. Clickk-chack!

Here's hoping you'll be back shooting soon.
