What better way to practice patience then sending a gun out for custom work? Custom work from 3 people perhaps?
After reading all the reviews on here about imported hi powers, I decided on buying one with the intention of cleaning it up a bit.
:rofl::rofl:
Well, I purchased one from CDI and while not as good as what I've read on here, it would work as a base gun. I can't explain why, its all in my head and I realize this, but I also wanted it to be a "T" series as well. Something about breathing new life in to old metal I guess.
First it got shipped off to Don Williams. He cleaned her up. Garthwaite trigger, new internals, trigger job, commander hammer, added ambi- safety, all new springs and pins, and added the new Novak sights. He also inspected the factory barrel and said it was in good enough shape to keep and that any benefit from an aftermarket barrel would be negligible. He did recut the barrel crown though.
After I got it back from Don, it took awhile to figure out how I wanted it finished.
After combing through who knows how many pictures on how many websites I finally figured it out.
So off it went to APW to have hard chrome applied to the barrel, hammer, and trigger. While there I decided to have them stipple fore and aft of the grip. I was back and forth on that and I know now that if I had gone the other way with it I'd be regretting it.
