"1911" model designation

I've heard that Smith is gonna drop the large "1911" from the slides in favor of a more diminutive marking. Anybody else heard that?

That is probably the thing I like least of all on the SW1911. Actually I also prefer roll marks to laser etching. But it would be nice to see something a little more tasteful on the slide of such a great pistol.

I would not hold my breath. S&W has a ton of money tied up in that roll mark. But, I would probabaly have to buy another one or three myself.
