Caspian Slides For 38 Super

Anyone have any experience with a Caspian barstock slide on a 38 Super comp'd racegun?

Their web site warranty disclaimer for the 38 Super (2 yrs vs lifetime for other calibers and only if no metal is removed from behind the breech face and the ejection port is not lowered) leads me to believe I might be better off with an STI or SVI slide.

If a Caspian slide fails in this application, where is it most likely to crack?

Hey there Gar,

In my experience I have never had a failure of a caspian slide in any of my 9X21/38 super race guns. Truthfully, I don't know of anyone having a slide crack either. I have/had 8 race guns in different configurations with not problems. Other parts have let go (barrel lugs, comps, scopes, scope mounts), but not the slides. I think the void in warranty comes from the tendency from most IPSC shooters to lower the ejection por to just over the rails or take a bucn of metal from the firing pin/extractor/rear sight area and then run 115 gr bullets.

I don't think you'd be sorry building using Caspian. Good folks, good product.

I've been using caspian slides for around 10 years, starting with their old cast slides. never had any problems with any of them. I don't blame caspian for putting a limit on their super slides, alot of open shooters remove a lot of metal to lighten them, and then put 1000's of rounds of 115gr rockets thru them. I don't care who's slide you use, if you abuse them like that, something will let go.
