How many people decided to check their website and splurted explatives when they saw the prices? Most of them I'd bet.

You'd think that as much as they cost they'd look a bit nicer. That retro model looks like a cheap Essex put-together to me.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Their "Jones" look nice but I'd rather be dragged behind a truck through broken glass then pay 5k for it. No deal

Overpriced. Never seen one in real life, much less held one, but I still stand by my statement.

I'm wondering if Gunny Zinns would be interested in a pair of these $558 jeans* to go with that five-thousand dollar 1911...

Anybody here could build a gun of that quality for a grand.

5k and the shot groups range from 1-3 inches. A 1500 dollar Les Bear does that all day long.

You could buy a Remington R-1 and throw a Kart EZ Fit in it and shoot that well and looks just like the Cabot.

Cabotrep, if you still pay any attention to this website, I challenge your company to a duel. I will fit a Kart EZ fit to any production 1911 and we will see if my gun out performs yours.

I read the review but still at a loss to why someone would pay that kind of money for that pistol just like everyone else has said. Sorry, but I won't be adding one of those at anytime.

I got my subscription to handgunner awhile back because I kept buying them when I saw them. I opened up that issue and saw that and laughed so hard that I choked on my coffee...Still want him to come back and retract his previously made statement about how he had no ties to the company.

Still, I can buy a Baer...and plan too...and get the same sort of groups. I guess I just don't care if it was done with files and micrometers or clone technology...whatever the hell that is. 1800 for a Concept VII or 5K for something that doesn't do much to wow me.

Clark states that "I readily admit that I had several "do-overs" as a result of the front and rear sights "blending" together while on target."
So he falsified the test results?
How many do-overs did he allow himself to get the results reported? Best 5 out of 10 maybe?

Did Cabot intend to leave the machining marks on the front of the slide?

Still a load of BS.

Novice 1911 shooters can't afford one and knowledgeable 1911 shooters know better that to waste their money on one.

I noticed that as well. Maybe that's how the Gunny has his set up.

So, Steve Clark, you might ask, Is it perfect?

Nope!
And this is pretty much is the crux of the matter for me: It's $5K and NOT perfect.

For a whole lot less money I'm pretty convinced I can HAVE "perfect".

Thank you for the link. I read it. The 'one - one thousandth' changed from 1/3 that amount in the initial claims.

Why is it these claims are made and none of reviewers measure the clearances? It seems if the claims are supported , the measurements should be there.

I agree, not much more for a whole lot more.

Why would you spend that much jingle on jeans when you can get leather for $1038.00!

I think that would be the price of my entire wardrobe if you counted my Redwing boots and my Carhart jacket...more if you add in my hunting gear and the Blackhawk boots I bought because government issued footwear and my feet aren't exactly simpatico...Still, for what I wear day to day I don't think I've got 1038 into it. That's just nuts!

I can see two, even three grand for a Baer or a Wilson but 5K for a gun that doesn't even look like a high end operation did the job makes me want to puke.

Wilson and Ed Brown are already machining to like tolerances and producing guns that are just as good at half the price. These guys need to cease to exist.
