Recon Rail built by Virgil Tripp

I've posted these before but I think they're worth posting again.

Man, I sure wish Virgil was taking in new work!

thanks, that is what I was looking for. I realy like that over the Black T. The Black T seems to have too much sheen to it and I like the really dull look like that.

Custom Caspian....

This gun sat in my buddies safe for about 12 years, he ownes a gun accesories store, where he used to sell guns as well, but this is California, so now he just sells accesories, anyway, everytime he would open his safe I would see the pistol, unfinished in bare metal, just hanging there, so one day I asked him what the story was with the pistol......He had bought the frame and started the pistol in the early 90's but never finished it.....It was started and put together by Tim LaFrance.... But my buddy never had it tuned, checkered or finished, and it sat there with very sad looking sights....So I told him to put a price on it and he would not budge, well about 6 months later he did....After the transfer, I sent the pistol out to the people of Robar to finish the job, which, in my opinion, did an awesome job......And well, here it is........
Hi-Cap .38 Super......

My 1911

Here are a few pictures of my 1911. I picked it up used. It's got a Colt Commander S/S slide on a Caspian S/S Frame. The first few pics are of when I first got it. The rest are of how it looks today. I added a Fusion Firearms Mainspring Housin/ Magwell and a set of Altamont Silverblack Grips.

First pic. What it looked like when it first arrived:

Same thing, another angle:

Here's what it looks like today (03/08/07):

Another:

And finally...:

The grips make a world of difference. I LOVE carrying it off duty and wish I could carry it on duty.

Future plans for it right now are a Damascus trigger, then a Damascus Hammer. Accent pieces.

I pretty much hate all of you.

And I'll keep on hating you until I someday have my own.

GAfirefighter,

Very, very nice. Gotta love a gun that isn't overwhelming to look at, and nicely executed to boot. You have a keeper there!

10mm Commander sized slide over Officers sized frame. All in ceracote was being built for father in law as a retirement gift in 40 S&W but he died in Afghanistan prior to ever knowing it was being built. Mother in Law asked that I complete the gun and use it as my daily carry piece.

here is my Caspian, nothing crazy, polished flats, matte rounds and a front fiber optic, has mostly Wilson parts in it.After EGW did the sights and blueing they test fired it,At 15 yards, hand held, did 1.5 inch group with one flyer, take away the flyer and best 4 were right at 1 inch. That is more than enough accurate for me.Update pic 02/9/08 after some EGW work

Update pic

"HotRod" Longslide Caspian

Hi all, im brand new here, quick question.

A while ago Tastysp posted these pics of this gun. I think its incredible looking! Maybe a tad over the top but still...its AWESOME! I must have one! Does anybody know where or how you get ahold of one of these slides with flames? Is it even sold like that or is that super custom order type thing?

Thanks a ton...and gorgeous guns everyone...very jealous. I've got a Kimber Custom II and an Ultra Carry SS...love 'em both! Recently picked up a Springfield SS Milspec for my old man too, i like it alot.

But anyway, im wanting to build (well, have built) a real nice longslide. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks alot!

A pair of pretty much plain-janes. Caspian frames, Colt slides, Kart bbls., Brown, EGW, C&S, Wolf small parts. I very happy with them. Haven't decided on finish yet, but I think I'm going to have them hardchromed. One has a temp trigger til I can find another long steel one to make a 'gold cup' type with.

Targets were a 27 yds., so I'm thinking accuracy is not bad.
