Mitch...I drove out to Raleigh this last Saturday for the match and the bottom fell out on the way....so we went on up to Louisberg to see the wife's sister who's in the hospital with a broken kneecap instead. I'll get there with it one day.

May have to wait a while though....we just bought a beautiful Valkyrie Interstate and will probably spend the next few weekends on the road.Headed for Deal's Gap this weekend.

JD,

Nice bike! Maybe I'll get one after the kids are grown. I hope your sister-in-law feels better.

Take care

for yall that dont know, deals gap is about the twistiest road ever www.tailofthedragon.com

now for the gun part, can anyone show me a stainless slide on a blued or black rec.? I have a cool colt slide but it has been buffed and the NM marks are in need of help, and it needs to be blued. I am thinking of using a stainless Caspian slide on my caspian carbon frame.

I love this thread!

Aronj. Can you tell me more about the 6" pistol? I have a 6" Storn Lake barrel and 6" EGW tungsten guide rod but I haven't started a project yet. I would appreciate any helpful hints about frame, slide, recoil spring, general advice, etc.
Thanks.

Thanks.

I would recomend a 2 piece guide rod for a 6in. I'm still working with it to get it running smoothly in 9mm. It runs like a champ in 38super and 9x23. recoil springs are too subjective, I just try different ones until it runs how I want it to. It doesn't seem to be much different building a 6in. vs. a 5in. gun, though I'm still new to the building arena. As for slide/frame... I went with the long dustcover frame and full profile slide just because I liked the way it looks.

sorry guys I had forgotten about this thread. Ill try to get some more pics of the grips.

The double stack mags are some OLD ones that I believe are made by Caspian years ago...or sold by Caspian made by ???? back when they first started makeing that frame. The gun was my gunsmith's personal gun for awhile til I beat him out of it.

Plan is to start out with a custom one for me, then eventually build three more for my kids (for when they come of age for the 45acp).

Thanks!

Cowboy,

That is one nice looking 1911. I really like the treatment on the slide for the cocking serrations. That is very well done.

I am thinking about building a 9mm. Can you please tell me about the internals for this pistol? I am especially interested in your choie of barrel and why you chose it. Did you go for the conventional feed ramp or did you opt for a ramped barrel? If you chose the ramped which one did you choose. these are some of the design considerations I am working over. Right now I am leaning toward the ramped Nowlin/Wilson configuration. I don't have a reason on why that config over the para/clark. I guess it is because I will probably use a Nowlin barrel if I ever get started. Thanks in advance for any tips you might be able to send my way on building a 9mm 1911.

RWW

Got me thinking as well, but talking to the builder, that's how the owner requested it...? Regardless, working on getting new sights installed, just trying to narrow down my choices
