Handgun Weights

Too much time on my hands and I was somewhat surprised that the CQB Elite Commander empty weighs 38.3oz and the CQB Elite full size weighs 41oz. Only 2.7oz for a 5" gun that seems to spec out the same?

It's only an inch more slide and barrel, how much can that weigh? Everything else is the same

That is an interesting factoid you point out Steven, I suppose that even though it is only a 7% difference, it is located at the muzzle. This along with the longer sight radius generally makes the 5ers a little more accurate and a little faster in splits for most shooters.

I believe Jeff Cooper felt the 1911 Commander (the lightweight version) is the top carry gun, but also believed if you were thinking about picking a Combat Commander (the steel framed gun) you were better off picking a Government Model since you weren't saving much weight and the Government length wasn't that much more.
