Wilson U Notch

I put the .165 U notch on my Colt competition 5" last year with a Hi Viz red tube out front .180 high. I have been dead nuts with this gun on steel plates from 7 yards up to 25 yards i find i really love this setup for my 53 year old eyes with bifocals. I then put the same setup on a 9mm lightweight commander with the same results even though its a shorter sight radius it seems to be a perfect fit for me. I was fortunate enough to get a Custom shop railed commander last month and I swore i wouldnt mess with it, after a few hundred rounds I found myself removing the adjustable Novak rear sight last to prepare for the U notch. Everyones eyes are differant but I love this setup for me, the front sight will go next and the stock sights will go in a draw if god forbid I ever have to sell it. Happy Shooting I hope my 2 cents helped somebody.

Please do not revive old threads (that one was 2 years old). Instead, make your new thread post and include a link to the old one if referencing the topic. I have edited your post and included the link to the old one for you.

I agree with your comments on the U rear site. I find it very easy to use and am transitioning to this site on my 1911s. I prefer the gold dot front site, but that's just me.

I find the .165 notch to be too wide for my liking. The front sight just wallers around in a big ole gap. Great for speed shooting....which I don't do much of at all. Horrible for trying to shoot itty bitty groups....which I do A LOT of.

I find a .145 to be a good compromise.
