If not confidential information, do you recall the factors considered in making that decision?

The forum's thirst for information is never easily quenched!

1) Our parts are an in-house produced, premium product and we need all of our capacity to supply our own custom builds. We have so many different slide lengths and frame profiles, we never seem to have enough of any particular model to go around. Other companies who sell slides and frames are often doing so to get enough volume to meet the minimum number required from an external vendor.

2) In the past when we did have overrun slides and frames for sale, those parts were often misrepresented by their eventual builders as a "Wilson Combat" built gun to unsuspecting customers..so selling slides and frames, although profitable in the short term, is not always worth it from a long term customer service perspective.

Yep, I would hate to pay 4 to 6k for a Wilson and find out someone else built it.

^^This^^

Out of the six 1911s I own (all from high-end makers) only my Wilsons drip quality. They are definitely the Cadillac of 1911s, and all other 1911s are rightfully compared to them.

Wilson sets the standard.

All my 1911s are in .45acp. Why? Because no one makes one in .46cal.--Me
The 9mm is a SD cartridge fit only for women and Europeans--Me
