Talking I hate this Ruger SR1911

Got all to look didn't I.

I brought a full size SR1911 about a month ago and the only thing I changed was the grips, to the Ruger wing grips. I cleaned the gun once more before taking it to the range for the first time and everything is tight "no rattles" Shot 100 rounds of fmj and 50 rounds of HP and had zero failures. Since I was only shooting at 7 yards I can only say the parts of the target I was shooting at was no more. It is now my carry gun and I couldn't be happier with it. Next will be the CMD size

The reason to hate them is one leads to more.

I hate mine too. It's been in jail for 2 months already and I have no idea when it will be released into my custody . When it finally is released it will be worked, unmercifully until I am satisfied that it will live up to it's reputation.

I just shot mine this week for the first time. LOVE IT! I put some grips my brother made on mine. I like the ziracote the best, but the others look good also.

After reading for a long time about the Ruger 1911, I just had to get one.

I bought the Commander and it is wonderful.

I thought I'd be satisfied but I'm afraid not.

Now I want the full size too.

I call it my dinner gun.

I'd like to see a few pics of the warning label now that it is buffed off...that's something I want to do to mine!

Swissfan I agree the Ziracote grips do look best. Please, who made them for you?

Anthony,

I sent you a PM in regards to your question as I am the one that made the grips that Swissfan shows on his Ruger...and I agree, I like the Ziricote also.

Thanks,

-jason

How did you do the buffing and polishing? What did you use?

Zirakote Grips

His brother, here in Kentucky, tocws2002.

Just for me, I would like them even better if they had the Colt Medallions set in them. Just my personal preference. I think the hex head grips screws are sharp. All of the grips tocws2002 shows are excellent. Plus, he lives here in Kentucky, close enough for me to drive to his location. Yep, we are already talking about ones I want.

I have had my commander for about a month or so. The only mod to date are the eagle wing Ruger grips and two extra mags. Have put about 300 trouble free rounds through it and couldn't be happier with it

Combat Elite in August 2013

I have my Colt 1911 Combat Elite .45 on 'hold', so I can get it in August 2013!!! I am already talking to tocws2002 (Swissfan's brother) about an idea I have for really one of a kind custom grips. Let's hope he is not outrageously expensive. Oh yeah, he lives within easy driving distance as well. My Combat Elite is only a mini-vacation drive away.

Yeah, I made up my mind.

I kinda do hate my SR1911!
It's more for the reason that I have to do a lot to it to make it ready for me!
But, its a good place to start. The first thing will be 25 lpi checkering on the frontstrap.....

Making it yours is part of the fun. A person could spend $5-10 thousand, order a handmade custom one of a kind by a big name customizer and still not have exactly what they want. If nothing else it would be another toy of some sort. I hear it's an addiction. One is too many & a thousand is not enough!!!!

Mister Dawg of Guns (Gundawg82), what might those grips be on that fine Ruger you have? Makes what most people seem to dislike about the Rugers look really good.

I have a full size coming. I just wish it had polished sides on the slide. Just me.
