Good, Inexpensive Ammo for Taurus?

I know this isn't the proper section for it, but most PT1911 owners seem to pay more attention to the "other 1911s" part of the forum.

I just got my Taurus yesterday morning (pictures soon) and I'm wanting some actual PT1911 owners' opinions on what ammo I should pick up, something that's good for practice AND defense. I keep hearing mixed reviews on CCI and Wolf. I was thinking of picking up a box or two of Taurus's Copper HPs - they look like a good buy.

Recoil,

I have used the cci blazer aluminum cases without a problem. Probably 1500 +- rounds. I have over 3k through it of various brands without any issues. I have not used wolf. I would look at gold dots, hydra shoks, golden sabers ect and find what it likes. I know it ain't cheap but if this is going to be your carry gun you should make sure it is up to it.

I have used Winchester White Box (WWB) and it shoots good but is a bit dirty... I now use CCI Blazer Brass as it shoots cleaner and I have had no problems whatsoever with it... Now keep in mind blazer has aluminum shelled ammo which is in silver casings which I don't really like... I like the brass cased "Blazer Brass"... Works great for me and is much cleaner burning than WWB.

i have used WWB FMJ, Magtech, WWB JHP, CCI Blazer, and some aluminum cased stuff (dont remember what it was, I bought it at the range when I ran low.)
I havent had a problem with 1 round from any of them through my Taurus.

Blazer Brass, Aluminum cased Blazer FMJ shoots just fine, also...if you can find them, the Remington UMC yellow box value pack(250rds) are very good for plinking. I think it's $80.change for 250rds. Not a bad deal. PMC is also good for plinking.

The PT-1911 isn't finicky as to what it eats At lease mine isn't!!!

It should fire anything you can get your hands on.

I've tried most cheap target ammo but haven't used any Wolf, (I'm not a fan of steel case ammo, my personal prejudice), now I shoot only my reloads.

Here's a decent Taurus site you might like: http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/in...7fef07d95c;www

The new Wolf ammo with the polymer coating, I'd definitely try. Its dirty, but I've never had a hiccup and its cheap! The old lacquer coated stuff is what people had trouble with. I had guns that just plain wouldn't function with the old stuff, but run through the polymer coated like a sewing machine.

My Kimber, Ruger, Taurus (Tracker & Millenium Pro), and MetroArms have all tasted the commie stuff at some time

Blazer is good, so is WWB. I haven't found any significant accuracy difference between these three.
