Placed my first custom Brown order today

My 60th B'day is coming up and wanted a custom Ed Brown to commemorate the occasion.
Placed an order with George at Gunslingers today.
My first time dealing with George, great guy to deal with!!!

Well, Happy Birthday in advance!
If you don't mind, tell us more about more about your custom Ed Brown.
I agree, George is a great guy to work with and just a great guy overall.

Again, Happy Birthday and well played,

Scott

Thank you Scott.
I didn't get too fancy with the order.
Its basically a 9mm Stainless Kobra Carry (commander sized slide) but without the bobtail.
The extra's I'm adding are carry cuts, a gold bead front sight and a blended mag well.
I've owned a couple Browns but all have been chambered in .45, I've been wanting a 9mm Brown for a while.

Sounds like you made it your own which is a big part of a "custom" 1911.
Your model selection and extras are simply first class all the way.
Post a pic or two when it arrives. Again, Happy Birthday!

Best,

Scott

I talked with George again this morning.
I've dealt with lots of gun shop owners and gun shop employees throughout the years.
In my limited interaction with George, he seems to be cut from a different cloth.
Interacting with him is more like talking with an old friend rather than a gun shop owner/sales person.
Truly a pleasure dealing with him!!!!

Happy Birthday and you prove - the best way to get what You want on your BD - buy it your self.

Lots of good reviews on George here.

When I began shopping, I called George then Called Jerry Hammond- What you say about George - I got in Spades from Jerry. Not saying anything bad about George but Jerry IS the man. I have always told people to call both and see Who fits Them the best. For me Jerry has stepped out of the box and gone out of his way to provide the very best customer service. Glad it all is working for you. You WILL love your Ed Brown

Please refresh my memory, the name sounds familiar, where does Jerry work?
Does he own his own shop?
If so what is the name of the shop?

Congrats gpsman!
Post up some pics when you get it home.
My b'days not till mid July so I placed my order last Saturday figuring it would take about 5 months for the build.
George told me I would have it in around 60 days.
Looks like it's going to be a "pre-b'day" gift.

I have communicated with George recently about a new GI No Name. He was quick to respond and very accommodating. Saved me some $ off MSRP. I am placing an order with him at the end of the month.

I share an upcoming birthday as well - like OP, also ordered my first Ed Brown to celebrate, a Special Forces in Battle Bronze, but added custom engraving to commemorate my time in the sandbox. Ordered directly from Ed Brown, Justin has been great in keeping me abrest on how she's coming along. Best part? Only 30-60d turnaround time, even after SHOT. Estimate she'll be here in the next week. I feel like a kid again, waiting for Christmas to arrive!

Y'all are setting the 60th Birthday Bar pretty dern high. Thankfully, I've got a few years to plan. If I plan well, I'll be making a similar post down the road. But, if my planning stays on it's current course, I'll be posting in our Parts subforum, "Just ordered a used 7 round EB magazine from Jerry for my 60th Birthday, should have it in about 6 days, can't wait..."

Congrats Homebrew!

OK, so I ordered the Brown & paid a deposit on Feb 18.

George said to expect around 8 weeks for gun to be built and delivered to his shop.

George e-mailed me yesterday to let me know the gun arrived.
6 weeks to the day from order...

Today around 1:30 PM I called George & gave him balance of payment Visa info.
George e-mailed me back at 3:09 PM to let me know the gun was shipped and provided shipping/tracking info.

Not too shabby?
Cant wait to hear from my LGS that shipment has arrived and I need to come and pick up.
They are closed on Mondays so I'm gonna have to wait till Tuesday.

I turn 45 this year, and I a model considering getting myself another 1911 to celebrate/commerate turning 45 (even though I am 12 on the inside). I will reach out either to Jerry or George as their reputations are top notch.

I want to add an Ed Brown. Either a Special Forces or Executive Elite in Stainless.

Homebrew, I bet you are counting down the days waiting for your Ed Brown.
