PT1911 Alum vs PT1911 Steel - cost ?

I'm thinking I might like the lighter version in Aluminum.
Does anyone know if there is a premium in cost over the
steel blued version ? About how much ?

Question on the Alum Frame. Does the ramp have a steel
insert or is the ramp Aluminum as part of the grip/frame?

Thanks

Taurus does not use ramped barrels...

Unless you *know* this will be your carry pistol, I'd opt for steel every time...

Excuse me please, but this is for my carry pistol and I want
to know the answer to my questions.
To those who have an alum frame PT1911, is there
a steel insert on the interior grip where the bullet ramps
into the barrel or is it all aluminum ?

What about the cost differential between Alum and Steel ?

No, there is no insert/ramp on the barrel of the aluminum frame PT1911. It is the standard linked barrel just like the steel one. I've noticed no odd wear but I don't have that many rounds through my aluminum one yet. I know I was very surprised at how much the 1/2 pound lighter weight improved all day comfort. I didn't think it would make that much difference but it's huge.

I actually paid less for the aluminum framed one compared to the steel one I have but that was mostly retail store versus having a dealer friend order the AL in for me. They are generally within $20 of each other in most stores that have both.

The only thing to worry about the aluminum framed one due to no insert would be gouging of the feed ramp from hollow points.
