I was looking for reviews on different Kimber 1911's

Most of the reviews and comments came from this site, and seemed to be a bit more informative than other sites. I did some reading on THR also, but enjoyed the attitude of the members here a bit more.

Not usually a forum member....just a few gun and outdoor forums in my state but, being a new 1911 owner I obviously had some ? Every time I googled something this forum came up the most and I got the best answer here! You all are amazing! so figured I would join instead of being a troll! Only regret....no avatar.....personality thing ya know!...but I'm sure the Administrators and Mods have their reason!.....Thank You! all for the wealth of knowledge and I hope I can contribute in the future......just keep me out of the political threads...

I found this site on a search for 1911 forums. I would also like to thank AZhusker for posting a link to a Arizona shooting forum.

A local friendly "Smillin'" shooter pointed it out to me and I like the lack of politics and flaming. Also, I've always dove in to do my own minor to mid-level work and the best/most helpful resources seem to flock here.

Sounds like a lot of folks found us through Google.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

I was researching 1911's for my next purchase. Every question I had was already asked and answered here. Good people that love beautiful guns.

Got my first and only (for the time being) 1911 in Feb 2010. Did some searching for info on 1911's and found this forum.
Seems like a 2nd home to me now!

A friend of mine got me into guns a couple years ago and I saw him using the AR forum, this is the first one I joined after looking for info on 1911s, I think it was Google. Great site here, I do appreciate all the differing points of view as well as friendly advice and honest opinions.

Saw a reference in a thread on MD Shooters. I'm looking into getting an RIA for my (first) 1911. I like what I'm reading about them for the price/quality/service.

While googling Raptor Images, I found the forum. My next handgun will be a 1911 and have a pro raptor on lay away, so I'm looking for any feedback before I put the gun on my permit. Thanks for your good work!!

Found 1911 forum while researching

I was lurking on two other sites and kept seeing references to this site so I started lurking and learning about 1911s. Reading the feedback on RIA on the three sites persuaded me to add a Compact to my collection of revolvers and semi-autos. Thanks for the great info.
