O.K. Hears the question of the day, on the TV show "Gunsmoke" what was Marshall Dillon's first name, I never heard him called by anythig but Marshall or Dillon. Did he have a first name or was it Marshall, just kidding.

+1 and you need to watch the show more often. Festus referred to him as Matthew almost every time.

"Well, Matthew, what are you going to do?" Right on. Festus called him that all the time.

Festus's mule? Bertha comes to mind. Right? Wrong?

Mathew "Matt" Dillon.

Mule name was Ruth.

Bar name was the Long Branch.

What was the name of Matts horse?

What was Chester's brothers name?

What was the name of the main street in Dodge City?

What was Doc's first name?

actually according to imdb.com, which is a wiki, so has the possibility of being wrong much of the time but is still an excellent site and reliable the vast majority of the time:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000790/bio

Quote:
After high school, he attended one semester at Beloit College before receiving his draft notice in 1943. He entered the army and trained at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, before shipping out for North Africa. After landing at Casablanca, Arness joined the 3rd Infantry Division in time for the invasion of Anzio. Ten days after the invasion, Arness was severely wounded in the leg and foot by German machine-gun fire. His wounds, which plagued him the rest of his life, resulted in his medical discharge from the army.
so not quite Normandy, but still very interesting! i had no idea that he'd served in WWII

Wow.... Combat... 7:30pm on Tuesday nights for me.... Sergeant Saunders... "The Lieutenant"... Kirby with the BAR... Littlejohn and they always had 1 or 2 expendables.... kind of like the red-shirted security guys on Star Trek that always die.

Combat was the best. My dad and I would watch it.

I always enjoyed Combat too.
Didn't the guy who played Saunders die in a helicopter crash?
