Thief

Michael Mann's Thief was cutting edge 1981. Sending Jimmy Caan to Gunsight to train with Cooper.

The Thief, by far

IMHO, The Thief with James Caan is magazines down the best 1911 movie. His gun handling was excellent, and you saw the 1911 quite a bit. Not like some of the other nominated movies where it made a guest appearance and then ambled back to the gun locker.

But the very best 1911 scene is in episode three of "Justified," where the bad guy puts the gun on the table and goes for a countdown!

She may not handled it like a pro but Angelina Jolie in the movie Wanted bended bullet projections from a Custom Safari Arms Matchmaster with Wilson 10-round mag, Parrish 1911 Bushing Compensator, engraved ivory grips, and custom engraved slide.
Not really sure which one is sexier, shooter ot the gun...

1911s in movies

Any movie in the "Jesse Stone" series, Tom Selleck is a big fan of the 1911.

Not much actual 1911 action, but “Hell or High Water” has Bridges strapping a 1911 on duty.

I'd throw the 1911 from Dreamcatcher in the running as far as its ornate design and scroll work. It is the General/Officer's side arm and impressive. He hands it over to an character after racking the slide to load it for him. Then sends that character off in search of the prey. Later we learn there is a tracking device in the 1911, which was activated by racking the slide . The military simply follows the signal to get the drop on them all. So beauty and ingenuity in one package.

All my 1911s are in .45acp. Why? Because no one makes one in .46cal.--Me

I just watched Three Days of the Condor last night, I think for the first time. Excellent flick.

The 1911 Robert Redford had was actually a 1911, not a 1911-A1, which I thought was interesting.

I didn't see any instances of a 1911 with a suppressor, but I might have missed that. There were suppressed Mac-10s though, which was pretty cool.

In Three Days of the Condor, the Section Chief who flies up from Washington requisitions a 1911 from the supply section and it has a suppressor on it later in the film.
