EMP question

I know that Springfield reengineered and scaled down the 1911 to handle the .40 an 9mm. I have the ,40 caliber version.

But my question is this; other than smaller parts how close are the internals to a normal 1911? I know the EMP uses a bull barrel and not the traditional barrel bushing but other than that are the parts the same?

I want to buy some books on 1911s so I am curious how close the EMP conforms to a traditional 1911.

Thanks.

The action is 1/8” shorter than a 1911, and there are 11 others parts designed specifically for the EMP.

It looks as if it does, look up the exploded parts chart.

Thanks. That was my understanding too. I have the EMP and a Sig RCS to tinker with until I can afford to get a cheap project gun.

I figure I can learn on these 1911s while I wait for a project gun.
