Some good news from Virginia!

Just received this in an email from the Virginia Citizens Defense League:

Congratulations, VCDL! Your phone calls, emails, attendance at the Second Amendment Sanctuary hearings, attendance at General Assembly committee hearings, and attendance at Lobby Day has paid off - HB 961, the "assault weapon"/higher-capacity magazine/suppressor/bump stock ban, is DEAD for the year!

We may not be completely out of the woods until the General Assembly leaves town on March 7th. Thanks to all for their efforts.

You can't necessary win it all at one shot. Step by step (the same way the opposition does it) will do the job in the long run.

Congratulations VA! You survived the onslaught.

Indeed congrats!

And to all the naysayers, enjoy your crow. Might try some Tabasco on it...

Stay vigilant and don't take your eyes off them. They'll be back when you least expect it.

Outstanding to all of you who helped or attended in any way - job well done! As said above, don't take your eye off them for one moment though!

Yes we survived for the moment. I'm sure the Dems will reshuffle the make-up of that committee that will guarantee a Senate floor vote next year unless the Dems find another way to push it through this year. Conservatives need now to focus on the November elections to insure that the Dems lose control of the House, Republicans keep their majority in the Senate, and control of the White House. If the November elections go south then what happens next year with this bill may not matter.

Great job, Virginia. Don't stop now, keep the momentum going, and destroy every attempt gun grabbing attempt after this.

If Brian Moran's position is elected (it sounds like it is), you folks in Virginia need to get him out, or at the very least school him on the 2A.

To whit:

Before the bill failed, Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran underscored the resolve some Democrats have to get an assault weapons ban done. He said Americans do not have a right to own such firearms under the Constitution.

"Assault weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment because they are weapons of war," Moran said.

At least with him, the name matches what's in the box.

It looks like someone put an "A" where an "O" should be. I guess the founding fathers wrote of bill of deer hunting and not a bill of rights according to this dunce.

What an idiot.

A perfect example of what an impact the misguided media can have on those in positions of authority, who are unwilling to take the time to seek the truth rather than lies and distortion.

"The following Senators voted in a bipartisan manner to protect your rights and kill HB 961 (Republicans in red and Democrats in blue): Chafin, Deeds, Edwards, McDougle, Norment, Obenshain, Petersen, Stanley, Stuart, and Surrovell."

Congratulations, Virginia!
Pedro.

Much thanks out to all those people from out of state.

That came through for us. By donating money to the VCDL, showing up for the rally in Richmond. Or any of the other ways that so many people came through for us. This will not be forgotten. This will never be a one state issue.

Going forward we all need to remember this. The "It will never happen in my state." mentality. Get past that illusion, as it surely will unless we maintain a united front. Just sayin!

^Best Post of the day award!

Exactly, united we will beat them. "One state" mentality we will loose.

This is a huge-win for the entire nation and can't be overstated. Stopped Bloomberg and the Evil-Left in their tracks. Avoids setting a new anti-2a precedent for other lefty states to follow. Not forever (this war will never end, everyone knows that by now), but a huge win just the same.

IMOA, The politicians saw an unpredicted pushback from gun owners and realized the pushback would have gotten more intense had the anti-gunners continued to keep pushing their gun control initiatives. Keep the pressure on them anyway, otherwise they'll think it was a fluke.

When the good people of VA re-elect these turds in November, they’ll continue their anti-gun agenda. They need some time for the people to forget!
