Many years ago I bought a used Ranger II in 45 ACP and I would like to send it off for some sprucing up. I want to get a reliability package and replace any worn parts, polish feed ramp etc...
It always seems to me that sending off to the factory is a good bet. I know there are many, more than competent, smiths out there. But the factory should be able to do a pretty good job, eh?
Any of you guys send your STI to the factory for work? How was the return product?
I recently sent 3 STI’s to Nighthawk for some custom work. I’ve had a string of bad luck with smiths lately but dealing with NightHawk Rep has been a pleasure so far. I can update when I get the guns back in estimated January.
And as stated STI’s Custom Shop is closed until they can meet their updated quality standards and production goals. It will open up, we just don’t know when.
Crap. Didn't know their shop was closed. Interested to hear how your experience with NHC goes. Too bad Alchemy only does internal arms. I always heard great stuff about Robs work.
How about Brazos? Don't they specialize in STI? I don't want to spend too much on it. If cost gets too high, I'll just get a Dan Wesson A2 Commander and have it ball cut, polish blued, high front strap, hard fit barrel / bushing... HMMM... that sounds pretty good...
Bob from Brazos is a moderator on this forum. Maybe he’ll answer but you’ll have a faster response if you just call his shop and speak with him or Ingi.
There are a ton of good smiths out there, you have lots of options.
I would try Dawson Precision. Maybe they could go through it for you....
