My first 1911 and it happens to be a Ruger. Got it last month. A week later I bought a Kimber. Going to add a half dozen more 1911's to the collection.

Will buy a few more sets of grips to try out. A friend gave me the Hogue desert tan grips and like the feel.

Added a EGW mag well extension last weekend. Just bolted on the Prairie rattler skins this evening. The grips are from Mel at Dog Grips.

On the left, my Kimber Stainless II with Recons in Predator Green. On the right my Ruger SR1911 with Operators II in Black Gray. The Kimber originally had the Operators, but I swapped it over since I thought it suited the black hardware better.

Very nice guns. I like the picture arrangement.

Thanks! I showed my cousin tonight and he just didn't understand why I had to have "two of the same guns". I guess some people just don't get it.

But they are not the same. One is a Kimber and the other a Ruger.

I'm loving this thread. I just bought one, pic to follow soon (though you all know what this one looks like fresh out of the box) but some of the grips I'm seeing in this thread are starting to really get my attention.

These pistols are good to go, right out of the box! Best 1911 on the market at any price! JMOHO

I only made three changes, an arched main spring housing
from Springfeild Armory, a Cip McCormick eight round magazine,
and a pair of genuine Ruger black rubber grips.

I can never get enought grips, so far I have 4 sets including the factory ones that came with the pistol. At the moment just finished installing medallions on a pair of Ruger black rubber grips received this afternoon, they will be for range purpose only.
Beside grips, I added a SS flat Ed Brown Mainspring Housing with drop-in Maxi-Well and a Wilson Combat frontstrap which for some reason lot of guys hate this strap, hmmm .. but for me it looks and works great, it's secure and gives me a solid grip without slipping or moving like most people claim.

I drank the kool-aid...

...and I love it. My first 1911. VZ Operator II grips, Ed Brown magwell, Wilson Combat ETM 8 rd. magazines. I am awaiting a Surefire MR07 to install my X300. I will post updated pics of that for those interested in the MR07 on the SR1911.

The magwell did not require any fitting to function. I say that because it slid right in and grip safety functions flawlessly. However, the MSH is slightly longer that the frame so the flared portion of the magwell does not sit tight against the bottom of the frame. Easily fixed with the Ed Brown since I can remove the flare and take a little off the bottom of the MSH, just haven't done it yet.
