Observations from the Gun Show in Richmond, VA today (1/4/20)

I hope this new thread will be allowed in this forum, as it will detail everything in support of the 2A, Virginia and our {expletive} Gov Ralph Northam, and 1911's parts, ammo, AR-15's, etc...

My observations from this morning:

The gun show was completely packed! The line was intense and continuing to build up as the morning progressed. Everyone in line was making small talk about the Rally on the 20th at the State Capitol here in Richmond, how we all have to do whatever we can to fight back against the liberals and support the 2nd Amendment. It was fantastic!

It wasn't as bad as back when Obama first got elected, and that gun show in Nov of 2008 was WICKED -- they actually had to close the doors because they'd exceed the building capacity! 3 guys would eventually leave, so they'd let 3 more people in! Everyone was totally freaked out back then and panicked. My bro-in-law and I saw it all from the parking lot (we couldn't even get in!) and decided to say "screw it" and we went back home...

Anyway, for those who have been to RIR (Richmond International Raceway) here in town, you know the layout. The two main buildings on the left when you first drive in are where they hold gun shows, etc.. and the whole raceway, grandstands, etc... are way in the back of the whole area. Well, I got there around 9:45 or so, and already the parking lot was full! I (and everyone else) was directed to the big dirt lot off to the right, where the fairgrounds used to be. Then... I saw the line... Seriously, it went out the building, across the section of the parking lot, up the lane and continued for a little bit. Not bad, but still, incredibly busy. So many people buying what they can while they can. People were also walking amongst the crowd with clipboards, asking for signatures to petition to get Gov Northam recalled. They handed out VCDL info (Virginia Citizens Defense League), people (Reps) were also there from the NRA asking for people to join up and support the 2A.

Long story short, I walked all over the place (as much as I could, elbowing my way through the crowd), and one vendor had AR-15's going for $399 (they jokingly called them "Northam Sales") and they were selling like hotcakes! Lots and lots of people at the NRA booth and the VCDL booth. I chatted with one of the guys at the VCDL booth, pulled out $25 bucks from my wallet, filled out the membership app, and I'm now a member!

In closing, all it takes is for a nutcase Governor, to spout off against the 2A and being bought and paid for by George Soros, Mike Bloomberg, etc... that causes everyone to hit up the gun show, buy what they can - while they can, and support the 2nd Amendment!

Wow...

Edit: The gun show continues tomorrow at RIR from 10:00am to 5:00pm.... Come on out and see if they still have those $399 AR-15's! LOL... But I doubt it...
I found Georgia Arms (as usual - they are ALWAYS there) and bought more 230gr "ball" ammo for my RIA 1911.

Glad you found some 230gr ball for your .45. I've found it to be great on small game/varmints.

Georgia Arms has some darn good ammo.

I always look for them at the Miami Gun Show. I always buy their 10mm HP and FMJ. Good stuff.

Yup... Georgia Arms rocks!

I have tested various "flavors" of their ammo in .45 ACP and .308 rifle and their stuff is legit! Never ever had a problem, every round went "bang" and also with amazing accuracy for being Factory Reloads.

If anyone is going to stop in at a gun show somewhere, always look for Georgia Arms. Or check out their website. These guys are awesome and not some type of "ol' cousin Eddie's reloads" -- their ammo rivals Federal, Winchester, Hornady, etc... all the "big box" names!

I like gun shows. An afternoon at a gun show beats work or house chores. However, I don't think I could spend a WHOLE day at one.

I check out all the cool vintage guns and other interesting stuff. Usually don't buy anything, then go. It's a great way to goof off.

ButchA is spot on. AR and ammo panic buying was evident. Hope people will stay charged up and attend the big rally on the 20th at the state capital building.

That's what I saw earlier today at the gun show... People were buying up ammo and filling out the ATF 4473 to buy an AR-15, at almost every booth!

I also stopped by the VCDL booth, pulled $25 bucks out of my wallet, and joined up!

Sadly, San Antonio lost its best gun show - the Premiere show that originated in Ft. Worth - due to the lack of a venue. It previously had gone to the Freeman Coliseum annex and was great. It featured a large exhibit area with more space than you could imagine. The show left because of the penurious jackwads that control the venue. They made parking so expensive - $10 - that the show didn't feel it fair to charge a full price and then have to pay the exorbitant parking fee.

What's left is a hodge podge of much smaller shows in tiny locations that carry just a few dealers with a half decent selection. For a metro area of 1.6 million people, these shows just don't cut it.

Not to be a negative Nancy but how many of these buyers are anti gunners that have seen the light vs. gun owners just buying more guns? I have way more that I could fight with so me buying another gun doesn’t improve the resistance.

I’m just glad there was such an overwhelming response. Hopefully someone took a video and sent it to Gov Jackwad. “Just look at all those voters”......that’s all they’re after....oh yeah, and Bloomberg’s money.
I’m gonna jump on the VCDL membership and donate......I don’t even live there but it will make me feel better dammit!

Questionable to me why anyone would buy guns now when they are trying to get a ban in place that does not include 'grandfathering'. The bill would give you a year to dispose of the banned guns and magazines.

So you are assuming they will comply?

That’s always been a question.....historically. No one is going to knock door to door to collect them. The hope is that any of these bans that are put in place will be overturned when people come to their senses. The funny part about this one is that you have a year to “dispose” of them. As in how, exactly? Ohhhhh, that’s a good idea....just sell them to a non communist area. You see, that makes it all go away.........jackasses!

Yep, this is the main reason the 2020 elections are so important for gun owners. If conservatives lose both houses of Congress as well as the White House these laws will become nation wide--from sea to shining sea.
