1911DK 38 Super preferred sn series for best quality?

A LGS (in Europe) has a NIB 1911DK for sale at app $1000.- due to the fact that 38 Super is not very popular here.

Is there a preferred SN range for these pistols?

Here's a pic of the pistol in question:

Very nice looking pistol, I have a Wilson LWT Professional in 38 Super and love it.

Hi Torf.

For 1000 euro it's a very very good gun, But why you don't spent a little more and by the caliber you like or already have ? I have one in 45 ACP. What I don't like is the extractor (nothing wrong with it shot thousands of rounds without a problem) but if it breaks you have to send it back to S&W? which means a lot of trouble for us in Europe.

That gun is a great gun. If you can afford it buy it. It would be a extremely accurate pistol. I collected early performance center guns and never bought that. I could have had one. A local gun shop sat on one forever. Wish i would have bought it. Why did i not buy it. Didnt like the trigger. It was 2300. Dollars from what i remember. That gun is 10 or 15 years old if not older.
Major custom gunsmiths were poled about building the most accurate 1911 to see who could make the most accurate gun. All commented they would chose 38 super. I would say that gun with the right loads would do 3 inch group 5 shots at 50 yards. Those smith and wesson performance center guns are amazing.

There was only 1 run of them some years ago.

Mine is STILL one of my favorite guns.

Buy it,
Bob
