Good evening everyone! I recently purchased a STI Staccato P and was told by the director of LE sales from STI that Safariland would be releasing a line of holsters for the staccato P because there were multiple departments that have opted to issue the staccato. I have emailed safariland directly as well as holsterops (a safariland dealer) and in the two months that has gone by I have not received any response. Has anyone ever dealt with safariland customer service and had this bad of a time?
If you are OK with a kydex holster, two of the top holster makers that use kydex are Blade Tech, and Comp Tac.
I know the above holster companies have holsters for STI 2011 Edge pistols; but I am not sure if you need an added retention device. These holsters usually offer adjustable tension screws that keep the firearm secure in the holster.
I use a Blade Tech kydex holster for my 5" STI 2011 Eagle, and an older Bianchi "ghost holster" for my STI 2011 Open Div. race gun with compensator. I would call both of the above companies to determine if they have a holster that will suit your needs. Safariland is not the only holster company...…
I took the first couple steps in purchasing a P Duo in .45ACP. Went to the local STI dealer and looked at one of the guns in that caliber. I was amazed as how slim a double stack .45 mag was. I have short fingers, but had no problem gripping the weapon. I also emailed Buck at STI to ask the procedure for getting one at LE price.
My reading about the pistol tells me that the Duo model is the model made for the USMS, which is what I want. Am hoping this is true.
I have no use for plastic holsters, so I also emailed Ted Blocker Holsters to make sure their SW402 can be made for the "P" w/ the Leopold sight. I use their 402 w/ my 1911s and love it.
Does anyone know if STI offers different grip options and a short trigger? Their web site has lots of pictures, but little information.
For those like me who prefer leather to plastic, I received a reply to my email to Ted Blocker Holsters. They make holsters for the STI pistols and can also make them for the P Duo w/ the red dot sight. Their only concern is the higher than normal front sight.
Can anyone tell me the height of the Duo's front sight?
My P Duo in .45ACP is on-order. Interesting and very brief process to order it.
I will be ordering a Ted Blocker SW402 holster once the gun arrives and a Leopold DeltaPoint Pro Reflex Sight. The holster will take a month or more to make, which is fine, as I want to put lots of bullets downrange before wearing it. I have never used a red dot sight on a pistol, so there will be some acclimation needed.
Hawkeye: How long did it take your gun to arrive once you ordered it?
Why do you wish you ordered more? Am assuming there are mag sales occasionally. Granted, I have 20 1911 mags for my other guns and use all of them at the range, but I am hesitant to buy that many for the "P" right off the bat.
I'm guessing no new holsters from Safariland?
I have an ALS/SLS holster for a P320, and it works well. I'm curious how people like the ALS system on a 1911/2011? Sweeping the release seems like it is close to the thumb safety. I know it is something I could get used to, but it isn't a factor on striker fired guns. I still kind of prefer the stand alone SLS system for guns with a manual safety.
Also, it looks like the Staccato's are now shipping with the molded grip instead of the treebark?
Safariland has yet to release their ALS/SLS level 3 holster for the Staccato P/P DOU or any of their other ALS holsters for the Staccato.
I like the ALS/SLS holster for my 1911 with a weapon mounted light. If I wasn't using a light I'd still be using Safariland's 070 level III holster. My view that was their best level III holster.
The ALS will not disengage the thumb safety when you complete your draw, it is far enough away that it wouldn't touch it.
Safariland must have some internal stuff going on, I’ve been noticing that dealers are always out of stock or have few on hand of their 6360 RDS holsters. One site shows a 4-6 month lead time for different models of the 6360 RDS holster.
I used to have a good resource at Safariland. He left and his replacement was a joke. I knew more about their products. That person left and there is a new rep now.
I just placed a dept order for 33 Glocks and Safariland products (over 60 holsters). The wait for the holsters will be much greater than the pistols.
I returned 7 out of spec holsters at the beginning of the year and still waiting for replacements.
MY agency had to return every Safariland duty holster we ordered, as they all were defective. Safariland took over a month and half to gey us replacement holster
Hey everyone, reached out to safariland yesterday after being told by them to message them back in a few weeks. I asked yesterday if they had an update on if an als light bearing staccato p holster would be out soon and the reply was it should be released any time now and to again message back in a week or two. This wait is killing me 😪
I ordered my Staccato P Duo 45 ACP in the middle of August and was just informed I should have it by the end of next week. Ordered through the LE program. So a little more than 3 months for delivery. Ordered a C at the same time and received that a week ago.
Another update from safariland, reached out to them yesterday and now they said they do not know if it will release soon as it could now wait till shot show...
I just retired from LAPD, was and still am carrying my 5" "P. I am using a 6280 for a springfield operator with a TLR1 light. I ordered the 6360 (6360-560-61) for the full length operator, (the OG TRP with long dustcover rail... ) safariland said 6 weeks. I had to order it via phone to make sure i got the right one.
One of the gents in my new agency here in Texas is rocking it. seems to fit ok. he is using the 4+ inch "P" i am the only one bringing a 5" gun here. He is on a task force, i havent linked up with him yet to see if my sheesh fits in the holster.
