Springfield EMP.

But they only use these mags:

Low payment plan too.

Springfield has a few that match your description, as mentioned EMP is a good option.

I have the Kimber Pro carry in 9mm. Very easy to shoot, shares magazines with full size 1911 9mm, really accurate and reliable. I changed out the recoil spring to WC flat springs and put in WC bulletproof extractor, so it's good to go for 40,000 rounds.

I have 4” barrel Ruger commanders in both 9 mm and .45. They function beautifully. So beautifully that I haven’t done anything but shoot them.

I have a Colt Defender (3 inch) and a Colt LW Commander (4.25 inch) and both work great.

Under $1,000?

Also consider the Colt Commander 9mm (just inspect it prior to transfer/purchase as QC can be hit and miss). Lightweight and Combat versions. For $200 more you can get the Wiley Clapp version w/FSC. They can be sharp so I would try and handle one before committing.

Also as mentioned if you can spend a little more Dan Wesson makes a great product.

We’re blessed to have lots of great options. Best of luck.

I have a Colt Combat Commander that I have put about 1900 rounds through. It runs like a clock. I love it. I think Colt made the first Commanders in 9mm only, and mine shows no glitches whatsoever.

Love my SA Loaded...8k ish through it...no issues. They are expensive here behind the wall...in a free state should be well within budget.

Thanks all for your inputs. Keep them coming, I’m picking up lots of good suggestions to look at. My $1K budget is pretty tight, so it is what it is.

Not sure which ones but when I was looking for a 9mm 1911 Colt was one of the manufacturers that had models that DID NOT HAVE a ramped barrel. I think one of the great things about the 9mm 1911' is the ramped barrel usually assuring a good feed of JHPs. I wound up buying Kimber.

I completely agree with the above statements. Get a new or used DW Vigil or Valkyrie, even if you have to add a few $$, and don't look back. I have both and swap them for CC. Hard to go wrong with a DW 9mm lightweight commander.

I would recommend a Springfield Armory Range Officer Compact. It is a CCO configuration pistol 4 inch slide with a heavy barrel on an officer’s frame. Mine shoots well is totally reliable and you should be able to get one for about $750. or so.

Another vote for coming up with a few more dollars from your Trump Bucks and getting a Valkyrie. You will not be sorry. Great EDC piece.

I got Springfield loaded 1911 in 9mm and was debating between kimber. People told me to go with Springfield. I had to get rid of their stupid Internal Locking System ILS but other than that. Iím happy with it. Iíll update after I shoot more.

Well, again thanks for all your inputs. What are your thoughts on the SA EMP4 Carry with the bobtail? I see them on GB for under $1K and a “good” used one for $800+.
This would be used as an alternate carry.

Bull barrels on EMP are nice from what I heard but I hear itís picky on ammo.
